Earlier this week, the CBN had to swallow it pride and decided to grant banks the access to sell dollars and other currencies to customers; as it does afforetime.

Graaagraaa is not the solution to anything. Policies can be faulty atimes.

Allowing the banks to play active roles is very good in stability of the naira.

Who do you think caused dollar scarcity?

All these billions of $$$ you hear that the past government embezzled, d'you think they embezzled them from the Bank of America or what?

The ones Jonadumb distributed just before the 2015 elections nko?

You thought there wouldn't be repercussions?

How about the drastic fall in oil price and the incessant bombing of the pipelines by Jonathan's boys in the Niger Delta?

Hm.? angry

Nigeria's Naira firmed 1.1 percent to 510 on the black market on Wednesday, bureau de change (BDC) traders said, after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) started to supply dollars for retail transactions in a bid to narrow the spread with the official exchange rate.

Most BDCs were showing only offers to sell at 510 with no bids, having sourced dollars privately at peak rates of 520 per dollar. The naira was quoted at 305.25 per dollar on the official market.

The CBN stepped up dollar sales on the interbank currency market on Tuesday, a day after it effectively devalued the naira for retail currency sales

Which N510 on the black market.

They are changing it for N490 Flat nothing more. Changed a few thousands this morning.

Instead make Burea De Change dey beg me, na me dey beg "Aboki abeg add N5 now"
They said by mid next month, dollar will drop to like N300/$1.

If these policies are sustained, Nigerians will smile in the coming days and recession will be a thing of the past.

Thanks for your comment, Mr Ask4Info. 3 of my colleagues changed for 490 TODAY.

The BDCs didn't budge one bit. One even told my friend he wouldn't change 2000$ for him. That he wants to wait to see what happens.

What i didn't hear is that it might crash to #300 Naira. This would be such a welcome development.

All these auto dealers putting mumu prices grin grin grin grin ;.... we would just import wink

ALL we need is a sustained decrease in a week... maybe if it loses 100# in a day, (e.g. $1 becomes 390)

there would be mass panic and all these speculators would quickly dump $$$ (unlikely scenario though angry)

Lets earn our own US Dollars and stop depending on the CBN and BDC's for US Dollars. We can earn the US Dollars we need to cover obligations abroad.
