Hmmm
Re: Ibrahim Babangida And Abdulsalami Abubakar In Their Younger Days (Throwback Pic) by wink2015(m):
It is a wellknown facts that General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida ( IBB ) for short, institutionalised corruption in Nigeria as a way of life especially within the political arena both military and civilian politics so to speak.

He killed so many opponent of his administation especially those that crossed his part without a forgiven spirit. He never had any remorse for his past and he is fond of divisive defence of his action while in government.

To crown it all, he destroyed democracy in Nigeria by annulling one of the freest election that was held in Nigeria. The June 12th, 1993 presidential election that Chief MKO Abiola won.

He stepped aside handing over power to an interim national government headed by Chief Ernest Shonekan. It is unclear why General Babangida refuse to retire General Sani Abacha while he was handing over the power to an interim government.

General Abacha took advantage of this power vacuum to plot a smart and instant coup ousting Chief Shonekan within just three months of interim rule.

General Abacha became Military Head of State with Lt. General Oladapo Diya as Chief of General Staff ( His number 2 )

General Abacha ruled Nigeria from 1994 -1998 that is for a period of 5 years and suddenly died of cardiac arrest. It was actually after the death of General Abacha Nigerians got to know the massive looting that this googled. general had done on our national treasury.

General Abdulsalami Abubakar who took over as Head of State planned a short time table to hand over power to civilian government on May 29, 1999.

General Abdulsalami use his short spell as Head of State of Nigeria to loot the treasury. Infact, Major Mustapha testified of how he saw trucks load of money being lifted from Aso rock from the CBN to Minna, Niger state, the home town of Abdulsalami and Babangida.

General Abdulsalami might be credited with the award of returning Nigeria to democractic rules but his financial crimes still remain in the record books of most Nigerians.

To make matter worst, General Abdulsalami is also responsible for the current PDP party crisis. why? He handpicked Obasanjo to become President without allowing politicians to slug things out and let the best come out of their contest.

It is in the record that Former vice president Alex Ekweme and Orji Uzor Kalu Former governor of Abia state plus a host of other politicians were the politicians that put their funds to build the pdp party at the start of Nigeria return to democracy but they were all pushed aside for Obasanjo to emerge as President of Nigeria courtesy of the Minna-born general. General Abdulsalami infact ordered an emaciated and food-starved Obasanjo from prison where he was serving life imprisonment for a coup and made him President. How do General Abdulsalami think Obasanjo will reason well to attend to the problems of Nigeria with such a terrible prison mindsets which was between life and death? Infact, if General Abacha had lived much longer Obasanjo would have died in prison.

That singular action by General Abdulsalami was what metamophosed to the current PDP crisis the party and Nigeria is faced with today. So I do not think the pdp crisis all started from Jonathan. It started far back from the miltary government of General Abdulsalami down to Obasanjo and got worse during Jonathan. General Abdulsalami was hellbent on imposing his fellow military man on Nigeria in flagrance of our democratic value.

Now the centre can not hold and Nigeria is paying a big price for his action economically, socially and politically. Unfortunately, the President Obasanjo that was helped to become President remain ungrateful to General Abdulsalami.

NIGERIA TODAY IS DRIFTING TOWARDS A ONE PARTY STATE COURTESY OF THE ACTION OF GENERAL ABDULSALAMI ABUBAKAR.

One day someone in government will open the record of General Abdulsalami Abubakar and his brother General Ibrahim Babangida.

Have you ever wondered why great men were friends when they were younger?
The type of friends you have is a reflection of you. Like minds move together.
Now if your friend doesn't share the same aspirations with you, you got to move.
If you have no aspirations of being great, then I have no business with you.
Actually this is an indictment of our political system that only a small number of people keep winning elections time and again. It shows that the system is rigged to benefit the wealthy and politically connected.

A truly Democratic system is when a son of nobody can come out of nowhere and won elections not a small number of people.

Dude, it's good to be passionate but the question you should ask is what are you going to do when you get into a position of power.

What we've learned from the past is that revolution is the easy part what comes next: governance is the truly hard part. Just go to Libya, Egypt and other countries that faced a revolutions. Revolutions need to have thinkers and people blessed with administrative skills (trust me this are not easy to find).

Just look at Buhari, this man sought power for years but did not prepare himself now look where we are today. The man is very passionate to do good and he has excellent intentions but unfortunately he is not qualified for the job.

So the question you should ask is how are you preparing for a career in govt? Are you pursuing a master's or Ph.D in public administration or public policy? Are you reading books and if you are how many books in economic development or politics?
What of philosophy? What's your philosophy on the free market system? Management style nko? What's your management philosophy? This are things you should be doing to prep yourself because anyone can criticize but very few people have ideas or the problem solving skills to be an excellent technocrat.
If not y'all would just end up like the people you are replacing. Passion and dedication is not the same thing as know-how. So start getting prepared. Best of luck.

We have many things to learn from these individuals rather than calling them names such as corrupt, looters etc.

These great men started the game very early and they rightly choose the best of friends for themselves.

Corrupt or not, is their problem.
rubbish, what of mamman Vatsa, do you know that Vatsa was the best man of IBB's during his wedding?

Wow! This is the first time I'm seeing someone on Nairaland expressing a crucial point all the separatist agitators and "let the youth rule" types never acknowledge: that all the best intentions in the world are worthless without well-thought through, empirically grounded ideas for realizing them. It's not enough to agitate for power without a coherent body of ideas as to how to use that power when you get it.

Unfortunately, intellectual laziness seems to be nearly universal with Nairalanders, so I doubt your wise words will have much of an impact. Well said, all the same.
