Probably the blinking problem is only experienced with recently manufactured products. I have never experienced these complaints with my phone. It has fallen hitting the ground times without number and the vibrator or screen never show any side effect. I purchased mine early January 2016.

i bought mind July 2016 yet it blinks i will de recommendations above on DARKER PRO to if it will stop

So the problem isn't charger but like I said, the port.

I will never buy any gionee product again. From E3 that gsve me hell to m5 that is super hell. I'm done with gionee and their useless products. I wonder why getting an ordinary charging cable will be like searching for gold

One thing is that, it's not your charging port, it's the charger you're using.

I conclude you've lost your original charger and probably using that INFINIX 12V×2A charger.

That charger truly charges fast, even faster than GM5 original charger cos the output is kinda higher than what the phone can take in, so it dumps some Watts out as heat which causes the charger to over heat.

Nothing spoils cords faster than charger over heating, it's either the cord stops fast charging or stops charging totally.

I'll advice you to get this long cord that looks like PC power cable, I got it 1K, I cant remember what's written on it whether KODAK or AMAZON, get the cord and you'll enjoy it, more so, avoid plugging your phone overnight, whenever you're charging, maybe after 30-30 mins, check how hot your charger is, if d hotness is unbearable, just unplug for a while to avoid it spoiling your charger.

My gionee m5 screen background light has refused to come on. The phone is totally black though it is still working perfectly as I could feel all the vibrations from the homekey press and screen touches.

The screen got cracked since last year.
Few months back, a pink line suddenly appeared on the screen and then it started flickering whenever I set brightness to minimum. I used my phone till 0% yesterday and when I charged it with infinix charger, the display was erratic, all parts of the screen were blinking. I switched it on and the gionee stuff showed and after loading it went dim and suddenly became black. Rebooted the device and now it is totally blank not even gionee is showing anymore.

*The phone did not fall recently. The more reason why this is very surprising
