Wait, did i read this well!!
She was switching on the gen for the kids and HUSBAND!!

While there is no harm in a woman putting on the gen but if the husband is around and it's at Night, and the gen is located somewhere isolated, for them to suspect MURDER!!

Men are you learning, she probably touched a naked wire, please turn on the gen for your wives..I'm thinking about the kids now.
A really unlucky family .
People have to learn to hold the earthed sides of the generator when switching it on to avoid electrocution, please everyone should read the user manual of their Gen. its just too important.
RIP to the dead lady; may God keep and protect the kids she left behind.

Imagine the husband was in the house, what kind of man is that ?
Imagine if the man had warned against switching on the generator and the woman, out of her love for Z-world decided to go and switch on the generator in diffiance to her husband's command . There are always two sides to a story. Sometimes if I come back from work and I'm tired, my wife usually put on the generator because she wants to watch movies . How does allowing a woman some freedom amounts to punishment? We should learn to think right in this continent.

Many women die everyday, you do not read that they were abused or killed by their husbands. Only a few in which case the husband has been actively suspected of abused get these kinds of attention. I believe bad wives who cause their husbands deaths too also get dragged. My opinion sha. The truth may come out, the man may be abusive but did not kill her or he may have killed her and said she died while turning on the Gen. No one knows. But I think they should have autopsy done to confirm or disprove their suspicions.
okies, let's use nairaland as a case study, I will look for you and count scores. Whenever an unfortunate even happens such as this crazy one, we will look through the comments and the sex of the commentators aand judge their bias based on the victim, also observation the general bias of most women commenters towards domestic abuse when the victim is female. You will see that my discomfort is completely unfounded. I hope am proved wrong.

thank God u sef know u don't say that. But if u did, then go and wear cloth let us go buy you a gift. Not saying the slap woman thing is cool though, but it shows an objjective mind and should aim at discouraging a woman from slapping a man, not necessarliy encouraging men to slap women anyway. Oya go and wear going out cloth

Thank God I didn't marry an invalid that can't turn a generator herself.

Nigerians are still locked up in gender issues.

Asshats, women are in space already and then this too, please wake up from your gender based slumber.

I believe they would have preferred the man died instead.

Imagine a case where the man was sleeping after a hard days work and the gen went off. Would it be right to wake him up to turn on the generator?
It's a lesson to all to be safety cautious.

See the children, step by step. E be like say once the woman born, the man go give am one month grace before impregnating her again as if na dog breeding program.
For the single ladies out there, the most dangerous man to marry is an insecure, over possessive, jealous man who lacks confidence in himself.
She has died before her time.
Though the family have blame for allowing their daugther to be 'imprisoned' by this man. Maybe he paid a huge dowry & felt he has bought the wife & can thus do as he pleased.

RIP cry
Yea that's why this issue of expensive bride price should be looked into. But that's not a yardstick for any abuse and possessiveness of any kind

Hmmmm no wonder most of them are marrying Yoruba men. But why would some Igbo families allow that? The other day was a case where a brother was using culture to claim a house purchased by his sister. And the shameless community are in support of such injustice all in the name of culture.

I can't wrap my head around the bolded. I don't know maybe it's my upbringing but I don't see why a woman needs anyone's permission to leave an abusive marriage
Often times because of what people will say? Again most parents hardly welcome with open mind their daughter that left abusive marriage. I just pray this will change cos some men are beast in human flesh.

I do not think many prefere him dead. I believe they are looking at it from experience angle. Like if an inexperienced person decides to connect or fix a faulty electrical appliance while someone who is believed to be more experienced is around. Those wishing him dead are quite daft. I see no biggie if a woman knows how to do handy things around the house and does it. no biggie at all.
Like if a man is cooking lunch and gets hurt, people would say he was cooking while his wife was at home. You know, like he can not be expected to cook a meal safely. So people would say, where was the wife? Not because she should be the one hurt but because, she is believed to know how to safely cook without incident.

I believe they suspect he killed her and claimed she died while turning on the Gen. At least, that is what I getbfrom this story. Abeg, I Don tire. Naija and deaths Don tire me.
And from their analysis what will the man gain by killing his wife?

Please support education for the girl-child.
Women should know how to choose a husband and know when to leave an abusive marriage.
Sadly, the pressure of the society is still why a lot of girls get into wrong marriages.
The man indeed married you to breed children.See all of dem as dem small.

RIP Nwanne.

You people that knew what she was passing through, inclusive of her mother, without speaking out should be held responsible for whatever that happened.

Why on earth must her parents be stopped from visiting her when she was alive and you guys posting this refused to seek help for her? Women seem to forget that those children they want to sacrifice to stay in an abusive relationship, has their own life to live. Must you stay there? Run first and stay out there to cry for help and the public would wanna help. Now that she is dead, are those children she wanted to stay with not alive? Nonsense.

According to Rita who shared the painful story, her friend Mirian Oluchi Okpara died after she was electrocuted while switching on the generator for her kids.

In part she wrote....

'I write this with tears. Mirian Oluchi Okpara eventually died in that marriage. So I received a call last night from my friend, that our friend Oluchi had died. According to report, she was electrocuted while switching on the generator for the kids and the husband in the house. She was found shaking on the floor and died on their way to the hospital. Many believe she was murdered'.

See the screenshots above for a better narration.

http://www.trezzyhelm.com/2017/03/nigerian-mum-dies-after-electrocution.html?m=1
With a good forensic investigation, the woman's family could still find out what really killed her. An autopsy done on the body would reveal whether she indeed died of electric shock.
