Instead of the govt to tackle bureaucracy & red tapism in both private & public organisations....na where money dey dey go promote less......''Cashless Policy''.

The expatriate is right....if you are a student in any higher institution (excl.) private universities whc i dunno hw dey operate, or you ve a patient in a General hospital, or perhaps, you need to get a doc at a Govt secretariat, or any govt parastatal....What dt expatriate posted is exactly what you will go through.....

Processes dt can be minimized to just two or three will take like 70 b4 u can get ur document signed...not to talk of signature appendees absent frm office ob work days...

God, Nigeria? Even places where they ve computerised, still makes no difference and the reason is clear, mostly, you ve to bribe, and bribe, and bribe to get documents signed....

Expatriate on point.

Not true, all you need to do is go to the website of the carrier, book a flight and note the warnings on time limit for expiration of your booking, either pay online or be a lousy prick and go through the stress like this as swipe because of some five K maximum discount. Get to the airport bout an hour, you can pay in cash at the carrier desk also after dropping your reference number, book, enter the lounge and chill till your flight is called. Piece of cake

Dear Mr/Ms Expat....

The only reason you are in Nigeria is because you are earning more money here than you would in your home country. We are doing you a favour. If you dont like how we do things please return to your country. There are very many from all over the world happy to take your place!!

Holy shit....

Well, thats Nigeria for you...

Things that are done easily else where is made difficult in Nigeria with a lot of bureaucratic bullshit.

Imagine trying to renew a Nigerian passport, if you live in the Asian region Nahhh fffffffcufk outta here.

There are only two places in the whole Asia where it can be done. Beijing and Malaysia.

China dont issue tourist visas to Nigerians and well malaysia is a huge mess in itself. Leaving you with

one option, go back to Nigeria. Do you know how much a ticket costs from any Asian country to lagos??

In the end, that particular passport would cost someone about $3K.

If Mr Obasanjo and mr Osibanjo who arranged to steal my passport with their Ghanaian friend.. Evan mensah kuffor can please return my passport. I will come and visit Nigeria. it cost over N1,000,000 to visit Nigeria from canada. that is what the price is.

you buy me ticket in nigeria.. on my name.. i will come and vist you. i will pick it up at the airport. this is how it works abroad.

I am in canada..

if mr obasanjo and mr osibanjo who arranged to steal my passport can return it. I will come and visit you.

the cbn is killing aviation with devaluation, people who manufacture in nigeria will not be able to buy machines.

Stupid British idiot,i bought my flight ticket to make an international trip while lying down on my bed, using my smart phone,i also made an online payment and had ticket mailed to my email,i didn't need to get up to do so,some of these fools who don't even know their jobs well yet being paid as expatriates are always looking for a way to insult Africa, since when did asking people to wait inline for their turn before they can make enquiries or buy ticket translate into all these grammar? i paid with my atm card, can't he do simple online banking? without having to visit bank and airline office if wants to avoid crowd?
You Nigerians should stop allowing these Fvckin crakkkers insult us online because they just want to trend..

Rubbish

This racist clown has sensationalized this process. Many people - including myself - have no issues booking and paying online. If the airline website is having issues, third parties like Wakanow are there to ease the process.
Step 4 of the write-up addresses your point. It might be straightforward for you but my UK debit/credit cards won't work on Nigerian airline sites.

Arik has the option of selecting booking from UK but you may not want to, or are unable to, fly Arik. With online payment not an option, I have to ask family/friends to book on my behalf. When I book in person at the airline offices at the airport, it can be a difficult experience with touts/security people amplifying the difficulties.

The write-up is written from a foreigner's perspective: presumably one who has done a fair bit of travelling. So I won't dismiss it as racism (we tend to underestimate the severity of dysfunction in Nigeria).

39. Go back to first desk, fill out triplicate form with name, telephone number, amount, and booking reference.
40. Hand form to clerk. Get your book out.
41. Dig into rucksack and pull out massive pile of cash. Hand over thickness of notes that you think is within 10% of the ticket price.
42. Watch clerk spin the notes through a counter, pay the shortfall.
43. Watch, or read, while clerk stamps your form and scribbles stuff on bits of paper.
44. Go to ledger, write name, telephone number, amount, and form serial number on right-hand page.
45. Take form to another counter and hand it to clerk.
46. Return to seat in the corner and read your book.
47. Clarify pretty much every piece of information on the form, one at a time, when the clerk asks.
48. Wait for clerk to manually type details into computer.
49. Receive pieces of paper, accompany clerk out of strongroom and into main part of bank.
50. Hand pieces of paper back to clerk, who disappears somewhere.
51. Enjoy your book for a while.
52. Receive pieces of paper, now decorated with various stamps.
53. Sign and date pieces of paper.
54. Watch whilst clerk tears them in half and gives you your portion.
55. Leave bank, sit in traffic for 45 minutes on return to office.
56. Check email and receive e-ticket.

I just can’t figure out why Nigeria isn’t prosperous.

It took me less than 15 mins buying an Emirates Ticket 5 years ago at their V I Office, so why would you have to go through this made up article, in my opinion, you just felt like writing this nonsense!

A very poor "expatriate" working in another very useless company. angry angry
In the days of Expatriates (JB, PW, Halliburton etc.) most just book from home office, others use travel agencies. Largely most booking are still done online , directly from the airline website. huh huh
Dear Oyibo, download Diamond App and kindly use it to buy your Economy Ticket. undecided
Warrisdis sefhuh huh
Though ease of doing business in Nigeria is not top rated, I hate reading thrash on a hot afternoon with no NEPA light to cool my temper angry angry angry

Bros, I go naija last year. Come see ridiculous inefficiency for airport nah. It was just amusing to watch.

You had multiple security personnel wearing different uniforms all milling about in the airport and I remember thinking to myself why so many? Why can one security agency not work?

As if that was not bad enough, when we were going back that was even worse. There probably was 5 checkpoints before getting to your departure area. It was worse than ridiculous.

The reason why Nigeria isn't prosperous is simple. Majority value bigotry and 'man know man' over excellence. An average Nigerian will rather employ a dead brain from his tribe than a qualified educated fellow from another

How To Buy An Aeroplane Ticket In Nigeria
1. Visit website of desired airline.
2. Select flight, date, etc.
3. Proceed to payment page.
4. Observe large red warning notice to the effect that, thanks to your country of origin being infested with dickheads who would defraud their unborn children, paying online is not an option.
5. Choose a good book.
6. Walk up one flight of steps to the airline office, which just so happens to be situated above yours.
7. Hold your nose and try to avoid retching too loudly. Wonder aloud why some people cannot wash.
8. Have an inane conversation with a brain-dead security guard who is playing receptionist for the day.
9. Write your name on a piece of paper and collect a ticket.
10. Sit in the pre-waiting area, which is where people wait before being admitted to the waiting area. Get your nose in the book. Read 10 pages.
11. Wait until the security guard calls you into the waiting area proper.
12. Take a seat and get your nose back in the book. Read 10-20 pages.
13. When sign displays your number, go to appropriate desk.
