Tithing opens financial doors

For Dangote, Emeka offor ,Opera, Bill Gate, Warren Buffet, Trump,Mark Zuckerberg, Adenuga, I can go on and on.

Stop letting yahoo yahoo Pastors deceive you. After, they will use ur tithe and pay prostitutes, lodge in expensive hotels with girls and even buy cars for 'em. Start thinking, Grace is a free gift of God, you don't secure it by tithing.

We do not observe most biblical injunctions but when it comes to money matters, the Churches are so aggressive.

Example, Lev. 18:22 is clear on homosexuality, but oyibo that brought Christianity to us are now disregarding it in the name of gay rights. The wages for adultery & homosexuality is death, says Lev. 20: 10-13.

For Randy guys who sleep with a woman & later add her succulent daughter, your own is death by roasting as in Lev. 20:14

Tithes were crucial in those days because the chosen ppl that looked after places of worship were commanded to do nothing else, so tithing was important for their survival.

Now, most churches have strings of businesses & their G.O live extra large lives & do nothing for charity.

2. Because Jesus commands it:

"Yes, you should tithe, and you shouldn't leave the more important things undone either." (Matthew 23:23) Tithing was the only thing Jesus commended the Pharisees for doing right!

You're misquoting Jesus!!. Jesus was against tithing, against religion, against religious leaders. This is one of the more reason they colluded with the imperial Rome Empire to get rid of him as he was a threat to synagogue (Church) economy.

The original quote which is Matthew 23:23 King James Version (KJV) reads "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone".

Anybody without bias can see Jesus was very furious about the idea of taxing worshippers, and he cursed the church leaders saying "woe unto you" for doing so. Jesus favored showing mercy and being faithful (reliable) as more an important obligation than tithing. There's no place in the Bible that Jesus agreed with religion or religious leaders. Jesus was against religion!!.

Should a pensioner pay tithe, on the pension, he receives monthly?
Re: 10 Bible Verses On Tithing by Nigeriadondie: 12:05pm On Mar 12, 2017
Also note this very important point that after the death of Christ there is no record of the apostles paying tithes. Infact they never compelled people to tithe. They never also depended or made a living from any tithe. Infact apostle Paul had to work to earn a living. Acts 18:1-3
Paul never encouraged people to fleece the flock by depending on tithes rather people should work as he did. Read what Paul wrote in 1 Thessolonians2:6-9; 2 Thessolonians 3:6-12, Phillipians 4:11-13. Infact the apostles worked also to contribute from their earning to care for the need. Acts 11:27-30
So dont let anyone deceive you to enrich any pastor who wud buy jets, build exotic houses home and abroad, buy fleet of luxury cars, build universities which their poor members cant afford to send their kids to or buy aircrafts which they claim to evangelize with perharps to preach to birds in the sky

Its funny when i hear christains paying tithes.most of them believe that the old testament laws both ceremonial and moral law.but you know what, the jews still follow all these laws and their practice are based on the old testament but they dont pay tithes. when a jewish rabbi was asked he simply answered y should i pay tithe? because people who the tithes are meant for aint in place.the levites were meant to collect the tithes and them only.if the tithe is paid to the wrong person or wrong reason its a sin.they tithe was meant for them cos the dont work but stays only in the temple. mind you they are different from priests and tithe wasnt to be paid by everyone.only people who till the ground to grow food and people who rears animal were to be tithed of the fruit of the land and the offspring of their herd.never specifie wat traders are to bring and money never a way to pay tithe but only fines.money needed to run the chrch shld be goten frm the members but no calld tithe. tithes are for levites nt pastors

It's quite unfortunate that these yahoo pastors personalise the funds and use it for their selfish business investments. Some pastors don't even pay tithes or give to charities, they are just interested in your earnings to survive.
that wouldnt stop you from giving to charity but you must still pay your tithe. If you dont want to pay it to pastor, FIND A WAY TO GO AND GIVE IT TO GOD. If you are a christian

You can be sure that billionaires do not pay the biblical tithes. They may make donations & offerings but no the 10%.

This is my problem with my fellow Christian brethren. They know how to twist and modify the verses to suit what they want you to believe. As you all can see, most of the bible verses are from old testament, and the few one in the new testament talks about grace and not tithing. I have said and I will say it again, tithing is a Jewish tradition where landed tribes (other eleven tribes of Israel) gave part of their income to the Levites and Kohanim (the tribe that keep the tabernacle and the priests). Unless a pastor shows me he has lineage to the levites, ain't paying no tithes

Read more about Levite's and who they are, their duty, etc. You don't have to pay tithe, its not by force, God is never in need, he's only looking for whom to bless. Your tithes doesnt bless your pastor, it blesses you.

God said "I am that I am". This means anything you say or do doesn't change him or change his name. You paid tithe " I am that I am", you didn't pay tithe, I am that I am.

Your pastor don't receive your tithes, its Jesus that receives your tithe. The just shall live by his faith. Its kukuma better you don't pay the tithe than paying and thinking you are helping God or enriching your pastor, better eat your money cos you won't get anything out of it.

U voluntarily give and decide to whom that shud be..provided it helps humanity.
What's the use of giving to a church to acquire more ACs and pastoral Jets when half the congregation live below minimum wage level..

I do not do tithing and never will. My guide on giving comes from 2Corinthians9:10. It says & i quote 'Every man as he purposes in his heart, let him give. Not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver'.

Let me explain it to you. You owe no church 10% of your salary per month. Rather, you owe the world every good thing you are capable of giving. Some folks pay tithes of millions of naira but cannot give 5k to a church member in need, talk less of a non-church member or non-christian. That's foolishness & such people are guilty before God, believe it or not. Generosity must be total. The scripture further says not of 'necessity'. That means, if you must pay tithes, pay it, but let it not be because of fear of the devourer or fear of being tagged a thief by God. Let it come from you cheerfully & freely. It also says 'not grudgingly'. Some christians feel punished paying their tithe. Such giving is a total waste.

When money comes to me, i give as i purpose in my heart. Sometimes i give all. Other times i give half, 20%, 10% etc it all depends on what i decide to do. Sometimes i don't even give at all. What's important is, i am happy and grateful to the God who has made it possible for me to give. That's the way it should be. Our people have taken holy words & mutilated them to soothe their own selfish desires & deceive many. Not me.

Whether you pay your money to a church or not, the name of God will never go down. That, i can tell you.

NB: who even said the bible referred to 'money' when talking about tithes?

God bless you o! The bible meant your land produce(food) when it said tithe. So that there will be abundance of food in God's house(Malachi 3:10).

I don't know who turned it to money. I am not one of these hyper-grace new generation Christian but I really have a problem with this tithe matter.

Re: 10 Bible Verses On Tithing by mecussey(m): 1:04pm On Mar 12, 2017
ipreach:
Many people have argued much on this subject on and off social media especially on Nairaland.com, that's why i decided to bring to here

1. Because God commands it:

"A tithe of all you produce is the Lord's and it is Holy." (Leviticus 27:30)

2. Because Jesus commands it:

"Yes, you should tithe, and you shouldn't leave the more important things undone either." (Matthew 23:23) Tithing was the only thing Jesus commended the Pharisees for doing right!

3. Because tithing shows that God has first place in your life:

"The purpose of tithing is to teach you to put God first place in your life". (Deuteronomy 14:23 (LB) If God does not have first priority in your finances, He isn't really first in your life and your witness for Christ is false!

4. Because it reminds you that everything you have was given to you by God:
"Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the ability to produce wealth." (Deuteronomy 8:18) Rather than feeling "I'm giving God 10% of my money," realize God is letting you keep 90% of HIS money. Without God's help, you would have nothing.

5. Because tithing expresses your gratitude to God for helping you earn income:
"How can I repay the Lord for all His goodness to me?" (Ps. 116:12) Here's the answer: "Each of you should bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you." (Deuteronomy 16:17)

6. Because refusing to tithe is stealing from God:

If you don't tithe, God says you are using money that rightfully belongs to Him. "God says: "Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!' But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' God says: 'In tithes and offerings. Bring your whole tithe to My house.'" (Malachi 3:8-19) (God has a right to whatever He asks for from you.)

7. Because tithing gives God a chance to prove to you that He exists and wants to bless you:

"Bring me your tithe. Test me in this," says the Lord, "and see if I won't throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it, I will prevent pests from devouring your crops and the vines in your fields will be protected from plagues."

This is one of the most amazing promises in the Bible. God actually offers you a challenge. He says "I dare you!" Start tithing and watch what happens!" He not only promises to bless you with more, but He also promises to protect what you already have! In the Bible, tithing is the only way given that you can prove God exists. Start tithing and get ready for God's amazing blessings!

8. Because it is essential to spiritual growth:
"Just as you grow in everything in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in earnestness and love...see that you also grow in the grace of giving." Many Christians remain spiritual babies because they disobey God by not tithing.

9. Because tithing shows you really love God!
"Where your treasure is, your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21) Wherever you put your money is where your affection is going to be. Every time you give back to God you are drawn closer to Him. You may say you love God, but 2 Corinthians 8:8 says that you’re giving tests the sincerity of your love. You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving.
Jesus said, "If you really love me, do what I command." (John 14:15)

10. Because tithing is an investment for eternity:
Jesus told us to "Store up treasures in heaven." (Matthew 6:19-20) How do you do that? By investing your money in helping people get to heaven! Most of the things you spend your money on will not even last for ten years, much less last for eternity.

Re: 10 Bible Verses On Tithing by xest(m): 1:07pm On Mar 12, 2017
I don't subscribe to this. There is no amount of money given to God that will prove or compensate him for his grace upon us. I believe the poster is a pastor or ardent so called born again. In that Matthew 23:23 he was not commending the pharisees for paying there tithe, rather he was lashing at them for not doing the most important part of law. "woes(is wise a recommendation)? unto u Pharisees for u tithe mint, Cummins n herbs, but u forget to do the most important part of the law". If tithe is that important christ would hv said it, but rather he said "justice, mercy n faithfulness are more important than tithe. Let no man decieve u of given him ur hard earn money in the name of tithe. If tithe is important the disciples would have preached it through out there mission on earth. Christ main teaching is centered on given to D poor n d sick. So therefore give n u shall b rewarded by God. Not by tithing. Tithing is not mandatory but Voluntarily.
