Question: "The Bible says 'God repented.' Doesn't that show He is capable of sin?"

Answer: In the context, it simply means a change of mind. This is different than repentance as regards to sin.

Yeah, God is dynamic. Some say "He never changeth" but I do not believe that. If we as human beings can change, and we are made after His image, then that is proof that He can also change.

God changed his mind=God is too stupid to hold the title of "OMNISCIENT"!!!

Hey Bro, God does change but what?
He changes patterns not principles! He changes ways not words!!
On principle, he is rigid and very static, he changeth not. The soul that sinneth shall die - that wont change
On ways, he is very dynamic, see Jesus miracles in NT.
Let every soul know that our God changes ways and not principles!

He changes both His ways and principles depending on the situation. The soul that sinneth does not always die, as evidenced by:
1. David murdered a man and stole his wife. Did he die? God forgave him after he repented. Though God took the child resulting from the illicit union, he still forgave David and we all know today David is in Heaven.
2. The two thieves crucified on the cross with Jesus were being punished for essentially the same thing. One ended up in Heaven, the other in hell. Why? God had a change of heart at the last minute because one of them showed repentance.

Truth be told, I find the idea of a rigid unchangageable God inconsistent with that of a loving, merciful, forgiving Father.

God is kind, He is merciful, He is compassionate because of these qualities He can change His mind and forgive an offense for which He has already planned punishment.

Dear,
Pls be aware that repentance is a fundamental principle to the Christian Faith..If you repent, you have Gods mercy and get forgiveness for 'any man that calleth upon the name of God shall be saved
Regardless of your past or what you have done, when you call to God for repentance you get it even at the point of death...Thats Principle!
You have only validated Gods unchageable nature in His Principles!
When we read the word as xtians, its not to search out stories, we need to depend on the Spirit for revelation and God help us all...Amen!

How do you understand the word "change" in that context?

The word "Repent" means 'to have a change of mind' as has been explained by others on this forum. Whenever the Scripture calls sinners to repent, it means that they should change the direction they are going, it means to turn from their sins. When the Bible says God repents it means when He turns away from His fierce anger towards sinners. God warns us of the consequences of not obeying Him in Jonah 3:8-9.

I have actually studied the scripture in this regards and found out more revelations concerning this issue of "change". I now understand it better.
