Henry et al, seeing as the Nigerian Army already operates Toyota Hi-Lux, [s]your engineers should try bash out something like this.[/s] Actually, give the job to Proforce.
Just don't do like these Germans and call it a Hornet Special Operations Vehicle grin grin grin!

Funny, I was only just looking at this vehicle. It's the same thing Italian Special Forces use.

Italian Special Forces in Afghanistan.

Ode, why the sarcasm? undecidedundecided

It's an easy build, although defence manufacturing is still relatively "new" in Nigeria, there is nothing complicated about this build. Nigerian army engineers can well handle it. They've built the Igirigi, would an LSV pose a problem, NO.

The design philosophy for the Nigerian IPV "dune buggy" would simply be applied. Very basic build.

Azerbaijan has a similar vehicle, the Gurza Special Forces Vehicles, also built on the Toyota hilux.

It's a Special Operations Vehicle, the title isn't wrong.

Forgot about Igirigi. In terms of sophistication and engineering complexity, this is miles from the dune buggy.
They're calling it a Hornet tongue tongue tongue!
4 of these in a C-130 and your SBS can escort Buhari when he goes mediating in a dodgy place like Burundi, instead of relying only on the DSS and the host country like last time.

Wait, you have a policy that says regardless of the threat assessment, your SF may not escort and protect your president when carrying out his duties in an unstable foreign country?

Someone forgot to tell Obasanjo then. Cos in 2003 when he and Mbeki went to Monrovia to tell Charles Taylor that the jig was up, those were Nigerian soldiers escorting him alongside our SF.

RTC GRADUATES SPECIALIZED REGIMENT PERSONNEL TO ENHANCE NAF OPERATIONS

The Regiment Training Centre (RTC) has graduated the first set of regiment personnel in VIP Protection and a new batch of Helicopter Backdoor Gunners to enhance the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operations. A total of 81 personnel received specialized training with 62 graduating in the VIP Protection and 19 in the Helicopter Backdoor Gunner Courses.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Christopher Okoye congratulated the graduands and urged them to put into practice the specialized skills they have acquired in discharge of their duties. The NAF, he noted places high premium on professionalism which informed the inauguration of the courses, adding that the essence was to strengthen the security architecture in protecting both human and critical national assets.
AVM Okoye also commended the Commandant and the entire staff of the RTC for their efforts in ensuring successful completion of the courses, noting that the NAF would continue to give the necessary support to the Centre in order to meet its set objectives.

Yeah, I know it is ahead. I was referring to design philosophy. It's a dune buggy on an Hilux.

We are only just developing a doctrine for SF operations, I'm sure as we continue to develop, we would eventually begin to build more vehicles in this class.

No such policy just trad
Infact the DSS suppose birth right of providing inner perimeter security for the Villa was taken over by military protection unit.
Just like Henry said plus secrecy surrounding who n who / how the Nigeria President is protected

- 16+ assault rifles
- 8+/- Milkor BXP Submachine Guns

All deployed in 4 small vehicles in a single C130.

Remind me, what're the Germans testing at Overberg?
The Taurus air-to-ground missile. With an Airbus MRTT and a USAF KC-10, 2 Squadron should ask them nicely if they can practise air-to-air refueling. Only the handful Gripen pilots who transitioned from the Cheetah have the experience. The younger Grip pilots possess only theory and simulator time. And to think we were the first Gripen operator to conduct air-to-air refueling!
