Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu said yesterday that he would not be deterred from his anti-graft battle despite not being confirmed by the senate. Reiterating that he doubted the credivility of the DSS report on whose pnak the senate rejected his nomination, Magu told a coalition of civil society groups at the entrance to the National Assembly after his screening: “My priority is to fight corruption. We have always been on duty. I will work until the last day whether confirmation or no confirmation. “The greatest violation against human right is crime against the society and the humanity but everybody has a duty and responsibility to fight corruption and I also have a responsibility. I assure you that we will fight to the finish. “We will never be deterred because what we are doing is trying to investigate what has gone before and protect the future of our children and our future generation. So, if we don’t work today and fight against corruption, the future is not guaranteed, the future of our children is not guaranteed. “So, we must wake up, where ever you find yourself, fight corruption. Anytime you discover that I am corrupt, expose me.” Challenging the DSS report on him, Magu said: “Those allegations cannot stand the test of time because they cannot be proven. You know, you can’t just raise mere allegations without giving the person the opportunity to answer you. There is the issue of fundamental human rights and the right of fair hearing. “Up till this time, the DSS has not called me and I am even surprised that the same report is coming back and this time around it is signed by somebody. I doubt the genuineness of that report. But I think we need to identify those who have the interest of this country at heart.” Speaking on behalf of the CSOs, co-convener Citizen Action To Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN) Ibrahim Garba Wala, said Nigerians and President Muhamnadu Buhari believed in the nomination of Mr. Magu as the chairman of EFCC. more at http://www.akelicious.com/2017/03/magu-i-wont-be-deterred.html

cktheluckyman:I just don't get your lot. Is your comment from a deficiency of brain, lack of or simply its rot? Why You Should Be Crying Over Magu's Rejection. In his short stint as acting chairman, the polity has experienced a major shake down. The cases he's exposed of embezzled and laundered public funds are outrageous both in number (Hundreds!) and amount (Billions!). The level of fear he instills in these politicians is so overwhelming they just couldn't afford to approve him as the EFCC Chairman. They would only be shooting themselves in the foot. Cos they know he's coming after them. His rejection doesn't come as a shock cos only Executive order can endorse him. As long as it's down to the votes of the Senators, he'll never be approved. Which is the faux pas of Democracy. So unless you're a corrupt politician or one who has embezzled public funds directly or indirectly, I don't see why any sane well meaning Nigerian should celebrate Magu's rejection. And No, this is not an issue of tribalism or integrity, but blatant obstruction of justice. Corruption fighting back. |

Foolish Magu please stop making noise. You've been disqualified,if you parrade yourself against as the acting EFCC chairman you will be arrested. DSS tendered a report against you, you started shouting they don't have any evidence, they didn't give you chance for fair hearing, all those people the same DSS bombarded their houses at night and got them arrested, did they give them fair hearing? Buhari and appointees are the most corrupt I'm Nigeria. |
