Some months back, I was in argument with a friend concerning this issue I'm about to share. I defended my argument with the fact that my dad is a military officer. Although I was very convinced I was right but I haven't stopped thinking about the argument. I know some people would suggest google; CHECKED! . Here is the question >> When we say the 'Military Men', which of the below are we specifically/actually referring to? . i. Nigeria Police Force ii. Nigerian Navy iii. Nigerian Airforce iv. Nigerian Army v. Nigerian Armed Forces . . Olajag Lalasticlala |

A military officer is a top ranked member of either the army,, navy or airforce, who is nt upto the level of a general e.g major, colonel, leutenant etc. The police is a paramilitary force. |

SUPERPACK:why did you put force at the end of your paramilitary force if police is not a force ? what is the full meaning of NPF ? How many forces were combined to form the JTF in the north east troubled states ? Why didn't you say that Custom and prison service are paramilitary force too ? Look at how you are contradicting yourself for something you don't know. Police, Navy, Army and Airforce are all forces and they make up what is called the Joint task force(JTF). |

wizzyrich:why are u shouting on a simple mistake i made i was refering to military nt armed forces. The difference btw the two become clear during war time. When nigeria sent out military troops to oust jammeh did u see any policeman there. The npf can carry weapons just like the military bt the caliber of weapon differs. . .A paramilitary is a semi-militarized force whose organizational structure, tactics, training, subculture, and (often) function are similar to those of a professional military, but which is not included as part of a state's formal armed forces.[1] Under the law of war, a state may incorporate a paramilitary organization or armed agency (such as a national police, a private volunteer militia) into its combatant armed forces. The other parties to a conflict have to be notified thereof https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramilitary . The nigeria custom, police, civil defence, immigration, nysc are all paramilitary organisations. Peace |

wizzyrich:The word, force, does not denote armed with weapon. There was a time Nigerian police never carried a weapon but nightstick. The force usually indicates authority. |

SUPERPACK:I don't want to argue with you. But don't say this in public, people will laugh at you. Police is not a paramilitary, it is a force. |

Dedetwo:wether they were carrying nightsticks, they've always been known as a force. Paramilitaries include; customs, prison service, EFCC, immigration service, NDLEA, NAFDAC etc |
