He was a great man! His name did not open doors for his daughters but it did for me. I was in a middle eastern country years ago and looking at my Nigerian passport the officer said to me with admiration - Reshidi Yekini ! and that was the end of my immigration questions!

1994 Nations cup in Tunisia. It was the last group game against Egypt. The match ended goalless but not without that spectacle from Yekini. The Egyptian goalkeeper, Ahmed Shubair was dazed after the salvo hit the upright and he had to run for cover...i no fit laff again grin

The Egyptian goalkeeper boasted in Tunisia 94 before the match saying :"Yekini cannot score me". Though the match ended goalless but major highlight of the match was Yekini's shot that shook the upright for about 3-4secs. Even the gk was amazed and couldn't move to save the shot

Rashidi Yekini undoubtedly had serious mental health challenges that were untreated. I don't expect the young child to admit this because of the stigma that is often associated with mental health in this part of the world. Perhaps with time when she has grown in wisdom she will be more willing to admit that her father had those issues.

For now, she is embarrassed of the notion that her father had mental issues.
