I beg, with the way things are now, at least a masters degree should be the barest minimum and at least 10 years track record of success in any given profession outside of politics and not more than age 60 (with MRI Scan to prove) should be the prerequisite to run to be president of Nigeria.. I beg all these embarrassing moves of Buhari is making me sick! |

Doriana2:The grade one gets from the university doesn't define ones professional life. The president of Ghana graduated with a third class and before he became president he was one of the best lawyers in his country so go figure. |

Doriana2:Oga that's not the issue, is it all first class candidates that are fit or capable of holding political possitions. Ogbeniiiiii, the grades you come out with doesn't mean anything at all. There are lots of political office holders with SSCE cert and OND at the NASS and they are doing well for their constituencies. THIRD CLASS Candidates ain't failures Oga |

Doriana2:Who employs CEOs based on the first undergrad degree? No experience? No additional trainings both/either local and international? Just first degree? Is that all you feel should be brought to the table in appointing CEOs? If we are to be going by first degrees, some of us would not even consider the 3 pointers. Why should we? |

Delarosa:For the same reason a bank hires top graduates when it can: not all first class graduates are fit, but the chances of finding good leadership is much higher among those who were able to study hard, understand the material, apply the material. It speaks of mental capacity and discipline. The chances of having a leader who understands finance is much higher if you pick from a pool of first-class graduates, than if you pick from a pool of those whose certificates are dubious, at best. I also would rather have a first class engineer in charge of our industry, than somebody who didn't understand Newton's laws. |

I understand the OPs argument, but perhaps he sounded a bit too rigid. A third class isn't such a bad thing provided you develop yourself later on. And some brilliant students ended up with a third class due to the Nigerian factor. The main issue is our leaders are not just smart or brilliant enough to understand the sensitivity of the task ahead of them. These days scaling through a job interview is like more difficult than obtaining a party ticket. When I watch president debates in the USA, and compare with the trash we have here in Nigeria, I weep for my country. Most of our political office holders are as oblivious of the job they aspire to do as the meat seller on the street. The argument however should be based on screening our political office aspirants better to eliminate chances of the present dance of shame repeating itself. |

Doriana2:I'm not a fan of Dino but I feel you shouldn't say he bribed his way into getting a master's degree if you dont have evidence to back your claims. That's what politicians with low IQ do and you who is championing for excellence in govt shouldn't join them |

This post reeks of pure ignorance and stupidity. so the measure of what you are lies in your academic qualifications abi op No wonder most Nigerian graduates are intellectually lazy because everyone wants to graduate with a first class or second upper, but forget to utilize their full potentials. Look at the world today most people shaping the world today are even school dropouts, why because they pursue their talents and convert it to outright fortune. A good example owners of Microsoft, snap chat, facebook etc. Having poor grades only qualify you in your discipline. Some even perform better than the so called ones with good grades. Your grade only has two purpose; one for your school, two for your discipline. If I have a third class degree in engineering and take a second degree lets say accounting, and have a second upper in it does that qualify me as a third class person. For Dino melaye to have graduated with third in geology, does it mean that he can't graduate with higher honors in other field of study if he chooses? The point is what you have to offer is what Nigerians are looking forward to and not what you graduated with... A wise man said I was born intelligent but education and exams ruined me

Doriana2:And same Zuma outperformed his predecessor Thabo Be kind who is a man with more than one degree. Can you compare the performance of former Kogi state Governor Ibrahim Idris with his successors Idris Wada and Yahaya Bello combined? Again, you have NO valid point.... BTW Seun Osewa is a "drop out" but can you compare the height he has reached with most of these PHD holders? Will you say he is unfit to hold leadership position? Like I said, leadership is not a function of educational accomplishment... |

Doriana2:common sense should teach u that academic prowess only does not make a leader...character does too and from your replies on this thread...I doubt u if you've character... you should be polite and civil before you go throw stones at those at the corridor of power..many of them are where they're today as a result of hardwork, they likewise took risks the so called educated folks are often scared to take |

Doriana2:This is one of the most stupid and highly unintellectual post i've seen in recent time. It's obvious you're still a student and never know what it's going on in the outside world. Why did u deliberately prevented the example of Prof Wole Soyinka in all your examples? |
