We are watching a house slip into the deep.

We watch as they kidnap the nation.

They recess when there are burning national issues.

They resume to crack jokes about uniforms and gowns.

Gowns they dont deserve and uniforms they no nothing about.

There is no urgency in their dictionary.

The hungry may die they dont care.

The economy may run into coma its none of their business.

They can buy a second hand car for 1 million dollars.

Just when so many communities are left in the dark

And a premier university has no light or water for students to bath.

They can hold the executive budget to ransom asking for endless explanations.

But their budget no one dares to ask for.

Any member who questions their ways is labelled an enemy of all!

Before you say jack, that 'enemy' is thrown out.

If you have a lifetime to waste join them.

You will smile with loads of money but end with an unproductive journey.

This is what it all seems to have boiled down into.

Clownish behaviour yet rosy, extremely rosy bank accounts

Padding here padding there.

Where are you headed, o nation?

May God save Nigerian from Nigerians.

Sagay is not helping this government at all with his volatile utterances.

He's part of those praise singers Sanusi accused of being Buhari undoing.

So the Senate are helping when they are trying to hold the president to ransom?

They are calling for serious trouble.. Can they try that with OBJ?

Same way our Senators has reduce themselves to some garage tout.

What some people don't know is that SURE we have separation of powers in executive, Judiciary and legislature. The same way you criticise the executives and expect it to take it by force whether you are right or not is same way legislature should bear and take it by force from people when the legislators re criticised. You can't be happy criticising only executive and want to enjoy freedom from being criticised... the senate should wake up to know that the era of don't talk to the senate whether good or bad has long past..... So they should come to NL and beginning to invite majority of us who criticise them on a daily basis.... Rogues in Agbada... who don't know party differences in sharing formula. Budget that would ve direct/indiret impart to the common man/woman in the streets are still not pass since NOV..2016.. what a shame...

All a see everywhere is silly bias against the Senate.

Even when the presidency is plane stupid, many still blame the legislature. I've told them, you are not helping buhari's government by demonizing the legislature.

The fools have raised buhari to high heavens. That he can deal with anyone who does not agree or align with him. I laugh at their foolishness.

We really have to be careful. The legislature have the capacity to do and undo, they can force buhari out of office or keep him in war mode all through without any achievement.

They can politically frustrate all coercive instruments of the Executive like Efcc etc.

Again, we have to be careful. If you destroy the legislature because you love the buhari led executive. (although I still can't see what they are doing) Tomorrow, you'll have an executive you don't like, but pray you have a worthy legislature too.

We should stop this silly attacks on the legislature, while we ignore the criminality in the executive

At this rate, the Senate will soon begin to invite Nigerians on Nairaland and Facebook for making disparaging comments against them.

That is what the Nigerian senate has been reduced to.

Has Saraki's senate even made any legislation this year beyond inviting this and inviting that?

Plus how come House of Representatives has a relatively cordial relationship with the Presidency while the Senate is ever ready to pick a fight with same at every turn of the way?

Really weird.

The role occupied by Professor Itse Sagay is not formally recognised by the constitution. He is at best a member of the President's "kitchen cabinet" who was appointed without any recourse to the legislature.

I doubt very much that the Senate has any legal right to invite him over a statement he can easily argue that he made in his personal capacity as a Nigerian citizen.

Like I said during the Hamidu Alli debacle, the Nigerian senate needs to pick its fight carefully. There is no need issuing ineffectual and pointless decrees and summons when it will only end up making itself look irrelevant in the scheme of things.

Itse Sagay might be a lot of things but one thing he has going for him is a deep knowledge of the Nigerian constitution both as a legal practitioner and a leading academic in that field. I can almost bet that he will be releasing a statement before the end of today trashing the senate's summon and upbraiding the hell out of them.

I think this senators are mad.
Inviting Itse Sagay for making his opinion known is nonsense.

His Opinion is an affront to the highest legislative institution in the land.

And the fact that he works for the executive arm is more reason why he should be invited.

Sagay is a professor of Law for God's sake. He understands the role of the legislature as a check to executive excesses.

He should've advised the presidency to withdraw Magu's name.

No matter how corrupt the Senate is.. they're the representative of the Nigerian People and the institution must be respected

The day Nigerians will stop selling their votes or PVCs for politicians over peanuts at the polling units or during campaigns, also make it single tenure of four years for all of these polilooters. That would be great times to have real democracy.

We need to educate ourselves from being used by Nigeria politicians during elections.

INEC and security personnel need serious educations.

According to the Senate, Itse Sagay "doesn't thrive in peace", and the truth is that the man has been rather confrontational or antagonistic in his utterances concerning the relationship between the executive and the legislature on some recent issues. This is not his first time.
