English students in the house please help us.
Which is correct? ; You can't eat your cake and have it or You can't have your cake and eat it.
It's a common expression, but i was listening to a program on the radio and there was a debate on it and they concluded that the latter is the correct form though they admit the former is commonly used....

I stand to disagree with that, the former should be the correct one cause when you eat your cake, you can't have it again.

The phrase can have either order. They are both correct.

E still be like, "tie the goat to the rope OR tie the rope to the goat". Anyone you choose, as long as say the goat no run.

I had this argument with an English lady once. The correct phrase is "you can't have your cake and eat it" the other way round is the Nigerianised version
