English students in the house please help us. Which is correct? ; You can't eat your cake and have it or You can't have your cake and eat it. It's a common expression, but i was listening to a program on the radio and there was a debate on it and they concluded that the latter is the correct form though they admit the former is commonly used.... |

I stand to disagree with that, the former should be the correct one cause when you eat your cake, you can't have it again. |

The phrase can have either order. They are both correct. E still be like, "tie the goat to the rope OR tie the rope to the goat". Anyone you choose, as long as say the goat no run. |

I had this argument with an English lady once. The correct phrase is "you can't have your cake and eat it" the other way round is the Nigerianised version |
