SirdimayG:Can you access PDF files on your phone? If yes, I'd recommend Physics 11 and 12 by Mcgrawhill Hill. Thats what I use but it's quite lengthy and Jamb is by the corner.

kristian98:What the ?! At first I thought it was a physics question... I'm going with III |

Optimist1998:it biology na.... 1% would be correct. A hypotonic solution would cause inflow of water into the cell hence increasing its osmotic pressure |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Nobody: 11:12am On Apr 02, 2017 |
kristian98:Osmotic pressure = pressure as a result of Water To paraphrase the question Which of the following cells will be turgid/hard due to the water entering it? That's how I arrived at III Phew it took me time tho ![]() |

Donpre:I was already calcuating It was looking like a question on cells/batteries/EMF |

| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Nobody: 11:23am On Apr 02, 2017 |
kristian98:None of the options is right about light so even though I change the question to NOT....... We'll have four correct options. I don't know if the mistake is from the past question or Jamb itself. |

0.16g of methane when burnt raises the temperature of 100g of water by 40°C. What is the of combustion of methane when if the heat capacity of water is 4.2 Jg-1°C-1? (CH4 = 16) |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Nobody: 11:47am On Apr 02, 2017 |
kristian98:H= mc@ H=100x4.2x40 =168000 If 16g of methane liberated 168000 of heat 0.16g will liberate 168000x0. 16/16 =1680 |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Donpre(m): 11:53am On Apr 02, 2017 |
Optimist1998:sorry mister its 168.... Q = Mc0 = 0.1*4200*40(I converted to kg) = 16800 mole ratio = 0.16/16 = 0.01 0.01*16800 = 168 |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by kristian98(m): 11:55am On Apr 02, 2017 |
Optimist1998:ok thats what i was even looking at. these guys chose 1680 and i dont know where they got it from. 168 is not in the option sef |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Nobody: 11:56am On Apr 02, 2017 |
Donpre:But all the units are in grams..... any need to convert to Kg? |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by kristian98(m): 11:59am On Apr 02, 2017 |
Optimist1998:even though. your multiplication has a flaw. 100 x 4.2 x 40 =1680 and not 16800 you would still arrive at 168 |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Donpre(m): 11:59am On Apr 02, 2017 |
Optimist1998:just a rule of mine... "Never solve physics is grams or chemistry in kilograms". I hate it when S.I unit f**ks up my work |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Donpre(m): 12:01pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
kristian98:past questions are mostly stupid... another rule of mine. you sure the values are correct? maybe a typo somewhere or the question is just wrong |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by kristian98(m): 12:01pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
Donpre:you have to be flexible o. There are times when you convert, you end up not getting the correct answer |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by kristian98(m): 12:03pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
Donpre:lol. don't be a full cup bro. in every senseless thing, there is a sense. there are times i think they made the most stupid mistakes. i end up discovering how 100% right they are. BE FLEXIBLE |
| Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by Nobody: 12:10pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
kristian98:The calculation should go this way instead 0.16g liberated 16800 of heat 16g will liberate 16800x16/0.16 =1680000 which is 1680KJ/mol I think this is more appropriate |
