Funny people. When will an ordinary honest guy get a chance? If he borrows right from election form fee, why won't he/she be corrupt when in office? Our elites have designed political power for the elite only. |

The nomination fee limits are still to high. It still deters honest and patriotic aspirants who don't have such amounts of money in the bank. I would suggest the following revised limits: Councilor (including FCT) - N90,000 LGA Chairman - N95,000 State House of Assembly - N100,000 Governorship - N250,000 National Assembly - N500,000 Presidential - N1.5 million Furthermore, in the event of the death of a candidate before the results of the general elections are announced, the running mate (in the case of a presidential or governorship election) should be elevated as the candidate. I don't see the need for the party to conduct fresh primaries. |

The election of a winner of an election can no longer be challenged on grounds of qualification, if he, the (winner) satisfied the applicable requirements of sections 65, 106, 131 or 177 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and he is not, as may be applicable, in breach of sections 66, 107, 137 or 182 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999. (For example, a person’s election cannot be challenged on the grounds that he did not pay tax, as this is not a qualifying condition under the constitution.) This is the most interesting part, let us check this guys before we allow this country go pass water. |

DONSMITH123:What?!?!? How about getting rid of this fees completely? What an outrage? Now I am beginning to understand why Nigeria keeps suffering from poor leadership? It's because of the pathetic leadership selection process (elections) that only ensures the highly connected and hyper wealthy get to run the country leaving out potentially qualified candidates. All this time i used to rack my head trying to figure out why other countries are moving forward and we moving backward. Its all beginning to make sense now. No wonder they loot a lot when they get to office because they have to make back the money. Can you imagine if this happened in the U.S, Western Europe or any other advanced democracy? There would be rioting in the streets. |

While they are at it, why didnt they make the primaries open so that the people get to vote who their party nominee as supposed to continuing the current system where the party canals select who they want forcing us to have to pick between two sub par candidates like in the last elections where Nigeria had to chose between Jonathan and Buhari. |

| Re: 2019: Presidential Nomination Forms To Cost N10million by davidif: 8:50pm On Apr 03, 2017 |
nkemjacob2:Bros, it's all beginning to make sense why Nigeria has poor leadership and why there is so much corruption. I used to think the root of the problem was that there was just something wrong with Africans. Now it's all becoming clear. One thing I learned recently is that when an entity is not working well there is usually a fundamental (foundational) reason why. And if you dig deep to look at there policies and procedures you would eventually see why. No wonder consultants make a lot of money because they are usually paid to examine the system to understand why things don't work well and make recommendations. |
