So we are in 1970 and the civil war has just ended. The federal government decided to end the blockade that had kept out essential supplies from the Biafra .Region.Many had already died of starvation and many of the surviving children were stunted in growth. There were literally thousands of children with large heads and big bellies all over the place.The government had to act fast to save lives. There were plenty of supplies in Lagos where in contrast thousands of well nourished children were all over the place. The challenge was distributing the materials to where they were needed the most. The Nigerian Army was given the task of distributing thousands of packages containing tins of sardine,boxes of sugar ,milk sachets, sanitary pads Oral rehydration mixes,corned beef and so on.Indeed the budgetary provision for this effort was very generous from the central government. The man in charge was an Eboe and he had the task of supervising the programme. His name was Ukpabi Asika. He failed miserably. Much of the items were stolen and ended up on the open market and did not get to the vulnerable who needed them most. The soldiers' wives were often seen selling the packages. When the soldiers actually did distribute they often extracted sexual favours and were criticised by the UN. Many vulnerable women succumbed to this sexual exploitation out of desperation and many became pregnant for these soldiers and other officials thus delivering a population of fatherless babies who came to be known as Nwasardine NwaOvaltine Nwakonbif and so on. It was a scandal and the government was embarrassed. Ukpabi Asia denied the story and even arrested a journalist for" spreading 'rumours " |

Op, do you know that these same people rose from the ashes of that civil war with nothing, to become the strongest forces in Commerce and Industry in Nigeria and beyond today? The civil war ended and they announced no victor no vanquished but that was only in words and the preceding and continued actions from the players show otherwise. Afonjas shaaaaaa......... Such a despicable set of people. I tell you these people are worse than the worst set of people on earth.
