Did the Fulanis pay for this free grass they are enjoying and the destruction of economic trees in a country we are trying to plant more trees? Why chase out the citizens just to graze your cattle? |

Oh yeaaa...in 2008 as a lagos butter pikin, my grandma decided to take me through same adventure when i went to Makurdi. From Northbank market we embarked on this journey to Rukubi on bike. Rukubi is a border community under Doma LGA in Nassarawa state. And it ws the most historic moment of my life as i travelled through the banks of River Benue. There were times we stopped over to cross water by foot. The fulanis na anoda story. The market day experience and how i saw so much fresh fish and food in the forest city. It was a memorable one. Sadly a few years ago in 2014, i learnt the fulani monsters struck and pulled down all those communities i had visited, leaving littered corpse and old folks. This is the Benue story indeed. |

HungerBAD:Contacts have been the problem of Obudu cattle ranch. The numbers you see on their website doesn't work. You can decide to go there without contacting them only to be told all spaces are booked. They really need active social media presence. |

@Joey82, nice tour.. The Nothern region in general is blessed with land mass. I passed Benue on my journey to Nasarawa State. Several times, I kept peeping at sign posts and was shocked we were still driving around one state with 5 hours already gone .A State I may not dream of passing through is Niger State; that's like the five South Eastern States put together .About these cows, Lord knows how much I fear them . If possible, I don't even want to see them. The herdsmen ain't even trying; the cows graze everywhere, cross the road recklessly etc. The funniest was when I spotted them at our NYSC/LGA Secretariat . |

Benue has been conquered. Taraba state conquered Plateau State almost taken - war suspended so they can re-strategies Nasarawa State - on the verge of being taken over Kaduna State - annihilation in progress - southern kaduna - soon it will be conquered Kogi, Kwara and Edo - Soldier Herdsmen silently being deployed the sad thing is - they always go for the best lands to rear their cattle. these states mentioned so far - their lands are the closest description of paradise. my question is - after they destroy all the arable lands, do we all start feeding on beef alone? what a messed up country. |

Look at how malnourished those cattle look! These big men who own those cattle can decide to own a ranch & employ these herdsmen to look after them in the ranch. The cattle will be well fed, big & healthier & be sold higher in price. The herdsmen too will be healthier instead of looking so thin & unkempt due to long distance trekking from north to south. If we must develop in this nation, the big men who own this cattle who are also the learned, religious & political leaders in the north must be ready to educate & change the mindset of their people. The north is TOO backward! |

nwaanambra1:We know the solution is for all states to encourage individuals to invest animal dairy production using the ranching method. Once the states achieve certain level of progress, all states should outlaw ubiquitous grazing of cattle. Whoever wants to graze cattle should be ready to ranch or abandon cattle rearing. There is no political commitment to finding a solution to this menace because all the governors would rather play politics and risk the lives of their citizens. |

munas:Exactly, You've thrown the light urself. The fish curves in the burrowed soil with it's tail inside its mouth occasionally chewing on the tail till the rains resume. Some peeps forbid eating the fish as they accuse it of feeding on itself. |
