Landed safely in MCO airport orlando..around 10.30am with my family.....got down the plane and moved to the biometric self kiosk machine to have our finger prints,passport scanned and picture taken....no stress..no wahala...,moved to que to meet the CBP with my family.....the following transpired :

Me:family holiday

Me: 13 days
Cbp:...stamps all 4 passport and writes date...

Cbp:...OK ,here u go,welcome to America
..........2nd Que (secondary inspection )
Cbp..any food or drink to declare?
Me... no

Please tell me why we should have a very hard time explaining it to cbp officer and what to do or say to not have that hard time. Yes we are travelling with 2 kids 8 and 6.

Meanwhile, I checked online and it seem it takes 12 hour thereabout to get to Orlando by bus from Washington DC.

I strongly believe a flight would be better and more cost effective. Particularly on your inbound journey to Orlando. After spending multiples hours in the air plus stop over, i bet you you would not want to be in a coach or bus for that many hours plus the young kids with you. hmmmm

On your return journey say to New York back to Nigeai you can plan to go via bus and plan it better by breaking it into multiple cities and sleeping in B&Bs if needed than taking the journey at once. That way you would really enjoy seeing the states and driving though.

I used Turkish Airline on my last trip to the US. That was in mid march. There was absolutely no issues and mind you it was my first trip to the US and my POE was Chicago of all places.
So like as our ogas here have told you, if you have nothing to hide, you have no issues

why did you book your flight to New York? Hope you've purchased the bus ticket before traveling to U.S and also if the reason you decided to fly into New York is because it's cheaper than say it.

You have to explain why you couldn't make it and also this friend of yours I hope you know how He/She got into the U.S? This is important because if your friend enter and settle into the U.S illegally and converted it to Permit or even citizenship the CBP officer may not allow you into the U.S because they felt you will do the same... just be careful.
