CHAPTER ONE: episode three

IT WASN'T LIKE THIS BEFORE

No, my family was not divided back in the day. We used to be happy, strong and caring. Who to put the blame on, I do not know, but one thing I'm sure of is that everybody contributed to the breakdown of our peaceful home.

I grew up to know my parents as a perfect couple.
Mom was a beautiful lady while my dad was handsome. Apart from their physical attributes, they got along perfectly well.
I could'nt remember seeing my parent have a disagreement or even raise voice at each other in my presence, when I was little. Even if they do, It doesn't even last for a day.
Before the end of that very day, they would have been laughing and chatting together again. Whenever I ask mom about it, she would smile and say
"you see, your dad and I understands each other perfectly well because we are soul mates"

I ended up turning to my Wikipedia to search out the meaning of the word "soul mate"
Dad was not left out during my research, I could remember asking dad for the meaning of "soul mate" one morning when he was taking me to school. He requested to know how I came across the word and I told him it was from mom.
He laughed and placed a call through to mom immediately, they had fun laughing at me before dad finally told me that I would find out when I grow up and find love.
Pending the time, dad told me himself and mom are soul mates because his love for her was out of this world.

I ended up laying my research to rest, since my parents were living definition of "soul mates".

I was happy and proud of my family, even our house maid do wish to find a husband like my dad before she left. I do not know much about relationships but I knew my parent were best for each other.
We lived a life of love, happiness and celebration. Everyday was a blessing in disguise.

Talking about celebration, reminds me of when mom gave birth to "Liam" (my little prince)
I was eight and I was in JSS ONE.
i could remember dad picking me up from school during break. He told me he had a surprise for me and drove me to a hospital. At first I was confused until he led me to a ward. That was when I saw my mom and my aunt.

Mom had a baby in her hand and her heavy stomach was gone. My joy knew no bound when Aunty Nancy confirmed my suspicions and told me the baby was a boy. I was happy to have a baby brother, God knows I was tired of been an only child. Looking at the little blessing made me overwhelmed.
I jumped round the ward with Desmond and Derek (aunty Nancy's sons)
Though they were abit older than me, we were best of friends .

Liam (baby brother) brought more joy and happiness to a joyful home. Everybody was happy, including my grand parent.
My grandma especially, she spent three months with us, taking care of Liam. I loved the way she would carry him in her hand and dance around the livingroom, trying to put him to sleep. She sometimes made me wish to be a baby but I wasn't jealous of my baby brother. All I had for him was nothing but love and the memories I had watching him sleep, cry and laugh, was unforgettable.

We had peace and happiness in our family until grandma left.
It was as if she took it all with her. Things changed over the time.
Mom spent most of her time taking care of her office work and Liam, while dad spent most of his time nagging and blaming mom for not taking proper care of the house.
The first day they had a misunderstanding, it was as if heaven was going to come down. The house was hot, everybody felt the heat. The event will be forever fresh in my head.

That very day, dad returned from work some minutes past seven. He headed straight to the dinning room, ready to be served. I could not even imagine just how disappointed he was to find out that mom didn't make dinner.
Mom complained of been tired and tried to make dad see reasons with her, but dad could not stop going on and on about how hungry and disappointed he was.

He complained bitterly of how famished he was before he took me with him, to a nearby restaurant.
We ate to our satisfaction and left for home some minutes past eight.

I thought dad wasn't mad anymore until bed time. I was in my room when I heard their voices. I didn't know the cause of their argument but they repeated the word "tired" like a million times. This made me guess it was because mom was too tired to cook, but I was confused because we ate out already.
I tiptoed out of my room when the noise stopped. I slowly walked to the living room, just to find my mom in a one armed couch. Her head was down and her hands were on her head. I knew dads words must have hurt her, but I didn't expect her to take it too hard on herself.

I walked up to Mom and held her head to my chest. I told her not to worry and she burst into tears.
That was my weak point. Seeing my mom cry was something I could not take. I felt like hitting my dad but then I realized he was not fully at fault.
I cried and comforted Mom but she never stop to cry until I threatened to invite aunty Nancy. She lazily wiped her tears and went into Liam's room.

I went back to bed with a heavy heart. I thought about the whole situation and couldn't get an answer to my hanging question.
"who's to be blamed ?"
I asked myself a million times before I eventually fell asleep.

I'm not sure I can read this story. Looks like a story that'd make me cry, and I can't deal.
