Please stop talking like this.
What do you mean "parts" . You think it is Ngbuka spare parts market. Nigeria is buying a US made aircraft, the software integration work for PGMs and guided missiles on US soil is going to be very expensive.
Nigeria should be rightfully focussed on overall lifecycle cost rather than on capital cost. I think we are getting it for significantly less than $600million but it would stilk be slightly expensive because of its country of origin and options we add
I don't get your question properly, but let me see.

We have made significant progress over the last few years in general aeronautics engineering. Take the Alpha Jets as an example, the production line has stopped more than 15 years ago, yet we still fly them regularly for the past 23 years both as a LEAD-in Trainer and as a Ground attack aircraft.
Remember, we continued to fly these jets in combat even when we were under sanctions in the 90s.

How do you think we achieved this feat?

No matter how you look at it or try to rationalise the possible A-29 sale to Nigeria, 600 million for 12 units is too damn expensive. This been said, we cannot draw a conclusion on the price because there is no official word from the Nigerian or US government. Prices quoted can only be considered at this point as been speculative.

That's a dope belt.. When's it coming down to the infantry? Pattern 83 no longer cuts it.

It's not. Not yet, hopefully. Though the guy in Pitoli who makes it wouldn't mind if it filtered down. At least he's getting some business making stuff for the Recces.

Enjoy the moment while it lasts. Your 5 minutes of celebration, as after this, it's back to our battle stations. We have to live with our differences in ideology.

Didn't expect this from you. Most Africans are black, yes. Some are brown. Some are white.
To be Factual Africans come in all colors and it will be wrong in the year 2017 not even been politically correct to define an African by their identity as being black, if Nigeria being a microscope of Africa in terms of population and ethnicity it would be improper.
Africans being the first human beings to populate the earth to current day are not only black , but are also Asian , Arabic, White, Jewish and even Middle Eastern.

Actually, Asians, Arabs, Jews and Middle Easterners come in all colours. Same as Africans. Or Europeans.
That said, it doesn't mean we live in a colour-blind world. Nor that there's universal agreement about what all the above identity terms mean.

A top NAF source said: “I can confirm to you that the NAF has acquired two new Russian Mi-35M fighter jets, which could be deployed for this operation. The jets will be inducted into the inventory during the NAF anniversary next week.

We should get pics of the MI35M next week during the induction ceremony. They will then be deployed to Ikorodu Creeks to clear Militants from there.

Actually m83 battle Jackets IMO are far from obsolete.......private contractors all over the world still use the m83 jackets......If its good enough for mad max its good enough for the SANDF!!

One of the reports quoted an anonymous Nigerian official referring to a "Tucano fighter jet"!

Then again, the SA defence minister whilst invited there by their defence minister - and trying to entice the Pakistanis to buy our Umkhonto SAM for their future frigates, A-Darter for the JF17, T5 artillery for their army - referred to the PAF Mushshak as a jet! sad sad sad.

I understand she's a civilian and she has to say whatever to secure sales, but come on! Some professionalism and sticking to the script, please!!! sad sad sad

Wow 12 Prop Planes for 50 Million each, while you guys are only buying 3 J-17/Block 2 Jets that cost less that 30 Million each damn!!! What the Bleep?

The worst part is that Hendry120 is out here calling South Africa foolish for paying 70million for a MULTI ROLE JET.

It would make more sense if you bought 12 j-17 Block 2 jets and only 3 Tucano Planes.

It's more like a vintage collectable now. Let's be honest, it doesn't hold well on black South African soldiers because they have smaller chest sizes in comparison to who it was originally measured for.

It's very old, probably most of the vests of its era are no longer used and not to mention it being a different brown to the Soldier 2000 pattern brown

Below is the combat vest popular with the SANDF reserves...neater

LMFAO Is the Nigerian Air Force considering to spend 600mil on Prop Planes over buying a larger Number of J-17s is an indirect way of telling the world that the J-17 really is a junk fighter *which is something we've all known*.

They would rather go for prop planes over that Jet :''''''D bwhahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!

Nothing wrong with the M83 "battle jacket". Could do with some modernisation though. The Recces, for example, now wear a combined M83/Molle custom job that takes in the Angola/Namibia war experience, Sudan, Burundi, DRC etc.
All of that should ideally filter down to us regulars.

I honestly wonder why Nigeria and Kenya had to suckup to the US just to buy the Air Tractor and Tucano. Couldn't you have gone East for something better like attack helis or combat trainer jets.

Why beg so much to pay so much. It's rather humiliating.

That's because Nigerian Officials don't want the Junk Fighter :"grin

This is the greatest Punchline in this Threads history.. The Jet that people defended so passionately is being pushed aside buy a Prop Plane :''''''D
