You have to explain why you couldn't make it and also this friend of yours I hope you know how He/She got into the U.S? This is important because if your friend enter and settle into the U.S illegally and converted it to Permit or even citizenship the CBP officer may not allow you into the U.S because they felt you will do the same... just be careful.

Or better still, would it be wiser to just book an hotel?

My Sister in-law would travelling for vacation next month, she declared she doesn't have any relatives in US(which is true), but now, an elderly church member wants her to deliver some stuffs including herbs to her son in New York, (I've already read here and send her the screen shot of the consequences at the port of Entry) before heading to her destination with her connecting flight , but the problem now is that she has already booked her connecting flight for 2 days after she lands in New York (spending the 2 days with the man and his family) ...
will the date difference bring any problem at the POE
Thanks

Lol smiley...must I have to pay for the full duration or can I pay for like 2 days then join my friend afterwards... I'm considering the cost implications of the hotel bills.

You can not even pay while in Nigeria except you have the international mastercard... it's your decision when you get to U.S

My opinion about taking things for people is a no no especially for a first time traveler... If she's ready to go through the stress at the airport fine.. and she must declare that she carried the herbs if not she will be fine up to $300 so she needs to think this deeply.

Thanks for the response, but you did not get the question.
I've told her to drop the stuffs. But before then she had already booked her connecting flight at a later date (2 days after landing in a new York) in order to deliver those things to the man, so there has been a difference between the time she will land in new York and her connecting flight to her destination.
Hope there won't be a problem with the date difference?

No not at all... When I traveled to U.S for a conference in Atlanta I came in through JFK and spent like 2 days in New York before flying to Atlanta so all she needs to say is that she will like to do some sightseeing in New york and she will be staying with a friend before traveling onward to a final destination.
One more thing hope the people she will be staying with got into the U.S legally?

Thank you so much.
No no, my husband does not want her to stay with anybody again since she filled in her form that she did not know anyone there and she has dropped the load she was to deliver to the man in New York.
And so there is already a 2 day gap

Do you mean she can still declare to them at the POE that she's staying with the man for the 2 days? Despite what she filled in her form?

Left to me I prefer Hotel but there's nothing wrong in staying with friends because there's no place in the form where they ask about friends and make sure that you inform them to be near the phone and expect calls from CBP at anytime especially when you're on your way to U.S.

A business visa while carrying foodstuffs?. If its for someone in the US, kindly let them know in the form, that you know someone in the US. And you should be fine.

This is my problem are you planning to apply for US visa so you can carry foodstuffs for someone? This is so unnecessary

Also, since one can't pay from Nigeria, will the booking be confirmed?

Bros book hotel for a day and you may leave the hotel if your friend is willing to take you in after that day... if they ask fine if not no need.

Have a your medical letter ready and let the CBP officer know that you have a hearing problem...like your own written note.

Since your visa is a visiting visa for vacation you can actually visit U.S at anytime it's left for the CBP officers to admit you nevertheless about your first question.. How long will you spend in U.S? this will matter because the kids can still be away from school for like 2 weeks also they may not even bother asking you guys about the kids and school.
You can stay in New york but do you know it's cheaper to fly to Florida than taking a bus? go to skyscanner com you can pay with your valid atm card.
The CBP officer hardly believe travelers who claim to have money in account they believe the cash they see... Hold plenty money if you can't finish it come home and change it back to Naira..also how many are you? grin

1} I and my sister got a visiting visa, sponsored by our father, who's a citizen over there, in the form we put in to travel June and return August, but now, we choose to travel may and return July, hope that won't be a problem

2} since we will be visiting our dad, is $100 too small to hold, in respect to the How much are you with @ the poe

Process your stay as how? I thought you applied for a visiting visa.. I will advise you to ask the CBP officer at the airport on how to process your stay, they will be in the best position to take you through the application and process. Good luck
