There wud always still be jobs. IT related. Cos no matter what, you still need

1. Software engineers
2. AI Designers/producers
3. AI maintainance /repair Eng.
4. Researchers

Etc

They can take all but not our natural intelligence. We goD them still

What makes you think an AI robot can't perform those functions you listed above?

Remember it isn't just robots, it robots with A.I.

Trust me they'll even perform better than humans.

The only professions that won't be totally affected would be the arts.

Writing especially. But then most people don't read anymore.

We are all on social media these days.

In fact if all the people advocating for a smaller population could do us the favour and delete themselves, we would have a smaller population already.

I still don't get why people don't get it. A large population is not a problem. The problem is human greed. Unnecessary luxury has become the new basic necessity.

Even before the population explosion of the last century onward, the world wasn't any better. The world won't suddenly become better if its population reduced to 1 million today if those 1 million people remain as greedy as they are today.

I believe that every development will have some people profiting from it and some others losing as a result of it

While the obvious direct effect of the proliferation of robotics will be massive losing of jobs, let us also pause to think of the advantages which i believe will present themselves once it all starts.

It all boils down to positioning oneself to be among those who would profit.

@ SIREWAP and YOUNGSTUNNA, Google is already trialling its self coding algorithm that can write software and direct AI much faster than any human can. IT and software development jobs are nowhere near as safe as you think they are. The whole world is heading for a big employment crisis.

Actually wrote something about this a while back...see below

#ā€ˇRiseofthemachine : With Improvements in technology, machines are beginning to replace people. Robots taking peoples Jobs....hmm. What I see here is a loop. Companies are replacing people with robots to boost production and also to reduce the cost of goods and services. However here lies the problem, there are lots of products at cheap prizes, but there no more consumers to buy these good, simply because the consumers are jobless and have no money to buy these goods.

The initial replacement of humans with robots will result in huge profits for the companies, consumers will be initially ecstatic with the sudden drop in cost of their favorite goods. More companies will begin to follow the trend, there be cheaper goods, more consumer purchases, more job loss, more crime, and then the system will flat line. Profits will begin to drop, there will be less demand for goods, has most consumers will not have jobs thus no income to purchase these goods. There will be chaos.

My thinking, govt would probably have to intervene, may be draft policies that will mandate companies to have a certain percentage of robots to human employees or develop a system where we all get what we need to survive (meaning all our basic needs that used to cost us money will have to be provided for free). The machines will do all the work for us and the high society people would be made of programers, politicians and tech guys, who would maintain the robots and draft policies for the human survival.

Keep in mind, the rich need the low income and middle class for them to remain rich. If they do anything that wipes out the middle and low class, then they will be doomed

Chai Oyibo has gone too far, There's a website hosting company where I hot my websites, I always use their live chatting assistance whenever I have some issues, for over two years I run to their live chatting assistance not knowing that I have been chatting with machine and not real human, I discovered about this one day when I asked one question that the machine could not answer, it only said I should reprase my question so he can understand me perfectly and I did rephrased the question upto four time, then I became surprised that a white man with English language as the original language would ask me to rephrase one question for four times and yet not understand what I was saying.. that when it came to my mind that this could be artifial Inteligence machine that is answering me from the help and frequently Asked Question (FAQ) database, so I asked it are you a real home and machine.. Lol.. the respond I got is"Hahaha, Well you caught me, I'm a help machine but hold on I'm going to forward you now to our human help department for more help" I mad that day.. this thing is so efficient more than human, but then you know its gonna throw people out of work

all I know is... no matter how smart they are they can't never replace the place of a human... robot have limit they can't in anyway go beyond what you programmed them to do.

Just like human can't never be smarter than God or replace His place.

The automation of jobs is bound to happen. What we should looking for now are the right political ideals that will ensure people do not rip off each other when it comes to assigning resources for daily living. Jobless people and automated production will deal a big blow to capitalism, as people only embrace it because it still throws crumbs at them. What happens when the capitalists don't need the low income earners anymore? I believe there is a future for Democratic Socialism after all.

Machine Learning is done to break the bounds of which a robot has been programmed. In essence, the robot will learn experientially (which is our kind of learning as humans) to develop it's intelligence. When a robot learns like a human, what does that tell you?

This comment betrays a deep lack of knowledge about computers and human anatomy.

The human brain is basically a really advanced supercomputer with billions of nodal connections making up its neural network. AI with silicon nodes have already achieved hundreds of millions of nodal connections, with the added advantage of being able to process far quicker than any human can. The only limiting factor on how intelligent AI can become is how many nodes can be crammed into one neural network. Where silicon conductors reach their physical limits, quantum physics is already solving the problem of how to exponentially increase processing power.
https://phys.org/news/2016-10-quantum-effects-artificial-intelligence.html

In our lifetimes, we WILL see AI with greater processing capacity than humans. You'd better stop using 'God' to hide from reality and console yourself. The people who are creating AI that will overtake us are also children of 'God', they don't have 2 heads. Focus on scientific reality and stop bringing 'God' into it.
