Just an ordinary engine flame out. That's what is making Nigerians act action film.

We truly need air emergency orientation. Most folks don't even listen to the emergency procedure during preflight preparations.

You must be very daft for describing Engine flameout as "ordinary"! A combustion in one engine of the plane is extinguished and the engine entirely shut down and you call it ordinary?
All over the world, engine flameout is an international emergency and shouldn't be taken lightly. It's a "Mayday" emergency. The TranAsian air crash in Taiwan on Feb 5, 2015 in which over 30 people died and 15 injured was primarily caused by an engine flameout.
Let's be cautious and sensitive in making statements. You cannot blame Nigerian flyers for panicking because we all know that save for our distasteful aviation standards and poor precautionary/maintenance measures, some of the air accidents in nigeria could have been avoided.
The fact that you have a little aviation/aeronautics knowledge shouldn't make you bully others with it by discarding this incident as ordinary. Everybody mustn't be an aviation expert or aeronautical engineer to know when there's a disturbing situation in the air. And this particular one, to be honest called for every reason for passengers to be worried. This is Nigeria.

Averted by who?

Was there any major turbulence? Was there a loss of pressure?

Or were these panicky people really expecting the plane to blow up in mid-air? (Like it happens in all these Nollywood home videos)

Perhaps more air travelers need to know more FACTS about how planes operate and all the regulations put in place for passengers' safety. It could help them compose themselves better (like that Asian in the video)

By the way, whoever took that video violated the instruction to switch off all mobile devices...

Didn't violate anything oga, regulations states switch off or put in airplane mode. And that's usually before take off.

Thought Provoking piece from. *PROF Abel Idowu Olayinka VC UI* ***Forwarded as received**** After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast. So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and built a great factory of it. While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology. While we were praying, India went into ICT. While we were praying, China went to massive industrialisation. While we were praying, UAE went into massive infra structural development. While we were binding and casting Lucifer, Japan went into technological development. While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark went into education of her citizens. While we were mounting big speakers in our places of worship, USA was mounting man on the moon. After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour. Since those that went into industrialisation, technology, infra structural development, ICT, education etc have been rewarded accordingly. It's only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers. That's why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches. That's why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That's why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals. That's why we don't do business visibility before jumping into it since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when it collapses, we blame devil. That's why it's a sin to say anything negative about Pastors and Imams. That's why our Pastors don't consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when the building collapses. That's why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapses we blame it on Lucifer. That's why our Pastors are making sure they plant Church branches instead of schools on every street in Nigeria. That's why we always wait for God to do for us that which ability would've accomplished. That's why we want our teachers to labour on earth and go to heaven for their rewards. Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education etc. When travelling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half serviceable vehicles on the road and blame our step mothers or mothers in law if anything goes wrong. That's why there are more people dying on our roads than wild animals in the forest. Ladies and gentlemen, I am made bold to declare to you today that there is time for faith, religion and prayers. However, it should not be to the detriment of taking decisive positive action towards education, self development and technological progress. Please, let us think!!!

Copied as received.

The pilot told them to calm down an they kept shouting. I'm sure they will be thinking the noise solved the problem. Whether you shout or not, if the plane was going to crash, th noise or panic won't stop it. People should learn to keep calm when things like this happen.

I won't give you the dignity of a reply. For you to include the word "daft" in your statement shows how premature your thinking is.

Besides, never you mention me again. Son of your mother.

This comment gave away the fact that you have never been on board an airplane before cheesy

That is what pilots do! That's how they are trained, because everyone panicking can only make the situation worse.

Its not a typical Nigerian pilot. That's a typical pilot, and could be from any nationality. Its the ones that panic when there's an emergency that don't make good pilots.

Em.....meanwhile, watch that movie starring Denzel Washington titled "Flight" and "Sully", starring Tom Hanks. The later movie was based on real events. These movies will give you an idea about how demanding their job is, and how heroic pilots could be in a crisis.

Only problem I have with the incident is how the airline would never bother to address its passengers over the issue. In Nigeria, serious incidents like this are taken for granted. After all, they did a favor to the passengers by landing them safely. Nobody gives a shyte about the trauma they just went through.

Typical Nigeria

Would it make you feel better if I told you I live deep in the Amazon forest?.

You obviously don't know the way copyright works. Copyrights have to be created on a content first and foremost before one can violate it.
