Akiolu Is NOT Oba Of Lagos State. by smellingmenses(op): 1:41pm On Apr 26, 2017
This is to correct the erroneous impression that Mr. Akiolu Rilwan is the Oba of Lagos State.... Lagos is different from Lagos State. Lagos is a small portion of Lagos Islands. It is called Eko!

Thus the geographical areas covered by Eko is very minute.... Even on the Lagos Islands! Because the Oniru is also a King in Lagos Island.

Mr. Akiolu is just a ruler of few streets on the Lagos islands.

Actually, the Ooni plays a dual role in Yorubaland. He is not just a traditional ruler of a city called Ife. He is also the High Priest of Yoruba traditional religions and preserver of Yoruba customs.

The Ooni's crown is the oldest in Yoruba land, it is steeped in antiquity and legend, it is thousands of years old. On the other hand the title of Oba of Lagos did not exist before the 17th Century. In fact the first Oba of Lagos was actually a vassal or subject of the Oba of Benin.

There is no doubt that as far as respect and prestige is concerned, the Ooni outranks the Oba of Lagos in every department.

The Ooni crown does not precede that of Olugbo of Ugbo if you know your history and yes that position is an ifa priest position and ifa is not practised by all Yorubas
