The Yazidi are an ancient religious sect dedicated to the worship of the fallen angel Lucifer, seeing him not as a demonic monster bent of corrupting humanity, but as a willful angel who refused to submit to the dictation of the 'higher power' (read: abrahamic god) like the other angels. It is one of the only real original 'satanist' groups known of from antiquity. Melek Taus (Satan), in Yazidi culture is known as the "peacock angel" due to his angelic wings being made of Peacock feathers. The Yazidi people currently are in grave danger as ISIS extremists have launched a genocide against them in Northern Iraq, taking away thousands of Yazidi lives, destroying Yazidi temples and culture, sexually assaulting Yazidis, and forcing Yazidis to flee over the border to Turkey, Iran and Europe. |
