I'm afraid William Bascom's list is somewhat erroneous.

Even though Ooni is considered the only living deity among the 400 youruba deities, he is not a descendant of oduduwa.

he only wears oduduwas crown hence the supremacy rivalry between the erstwhile ooni and the alaafin of oyo.

I like this vibrant young Ooni, he is just free minded man moving around and showing his ego with western media over hyping him. A true real kind with total respect for his throne is OBA EWUARE OF Benin. He never leaves his throne and never speaks anyhow but maintains his rich culture. To be honest I like this man style he is just trying to unify his people and trying to let all those folks understand show if strenght or jazz power is not what the world is saying right now but love, peace and respect for others.
