A Facebook User, Chucks Wisdom Cee has taken to his page to post photos of a dilapidated electricity distribution pole in Aba while crying out to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company to intervene before it turns a disaster.
Read what Chucks posted below...

"""Dear Enugu Electricity Distribution Company- EEDC,

Since all my efforts to reach you people through your other channels and staffs have proved abortive, permit me to say this here.

The images below show a death trap still standing in form of an electric distribution pole in one Umunkama Street off Ohanku Road in Aba.

The said area is under the jurisdiction of EEDC Ogbor Hill Aba.

Every middle of the month, you people send your marketers to this area with ladders to enforce/collect payments for Electricity consumption (NEPA bill) yet they turn a blind eye to what will soon be a disaster.

When i asked around, they told me that their faulty transformer was changed lately but the dilapidated poles (even those carrying the main LT Grid with the 3 phases) weren't changed as well.

The pole (shown) with a feeble foundation has been this way for over 2years and the ground holding it is wet due to the waterlogging in the area. To sum it up, the upper (perforated) part of the wooden LT Pole, holding the port is burnt.

You People should please do something about this situation before it turns a national headline. Save the lives of your customers living in UMUNKAMA.

From Chucks Wisdom Cee,
A Loyal and dedicated Customer.""""

I don't say this much, but Seun, this thread should be on the front page.

Just a while back, people were killed in a viewing center because of a fallen pole.

If we can have jellof rice threads and efe threads on the front page, then this must make it as well.

It's not just this particular pole btw, many poles are in this condition.

EEDC is the most useless of the Discos. They recruit based on "IM" and majority of their staff don't understand what it takes to be professional.

don't believe those AFONJA'S. Lies lies everywhere. The parts that all bad are much greater than those good. Though work is on-going. But not on the major roads.

It didn't grow but germinated and the electric cables miraculously appeared on the poles

There are no pre-paid meters in Aba. EEDC wants it to remain that way so that can generate huge revenue through grossly estimated bills.

Customers are the ones to buy and maintain their own transformers. If you wait for EEDC, they will come in the next 20 years to fix it. Imagine a situation where MTN decides to let customers contribute money to build masts for better coverage.

The ridiculous things is that EEDC officials know these faulty poles. But they are waiting for it to fall. And when it falls, that is when there will be power and someone may get eletrocuted.

Common management is really not common.

The political investors that bought these power assets are ordinary politicians who know nothing about energy industry. But it was sad that Jonathan and Namadi Sambo jettisoned national interest in order to please political acquaintances. People like these who supported Jonathan blindly will continue to suffer the consequence of Jonathan's bad governance.

I speak as an insider in this industry; the solution now is for the Buhari government to annul the entire cangaroo privatization done by Jonathan and sell all the power assets to true investors-like Dangote, Femi Otedola, Geometric power owners and other foreign investors.

If we only knew how to sue and claim damages. Some companies would have their act right by now.
