TCN Statement On System Collapse On The National Grid Due To Fire In Benin. by naptu2: 7:05pm On Jun 30, 2019
The national grid experienced a system collapse this morning due to a massive drop of load by the distribution companies. This also led to a fire in Benin.

I am not understanding! So is someone trying to say that little fire on a single transformer caused the entire nation to be thrown into darkness? Kaii.... The entire Nigerian power grid needs to be smashed and rebuilt from scratch.

First component, Transmission network strengthening and improvement (US 408 million dollars equivalent, of which the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) US 4 million dollars and IDA and IDA Scale-Up Facility (SUF) US 404 million dollars equivalent, excluding contingency). This component has four sub components: (a) the upgrading and rehabilitation of up to 48 existing substations—of these, approximately 11 require the replacement of transformers, while the others require the addition (not the replacement) of transformers, and addition and replacement of protection and control systems, switchgear, and associated equipment; (b) replacement of conductor on up to 13 132 kV transmission lines and conversion of up to two 132 kV lines from single circuit to double circuit (the total length of the transmission lines is about 1,260 km); (c) the upgrading and expansion of the network’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and telecommunication systems and construction of four regional control centers; and (d) installation of static var compensator (SVC) at the remotely located Gombe substation in the northeast, which is supplied by a long 132 kV line, and purchase of spare equipment.

You are dumb!

Are power outages prone to Nigeria alone. Did you read to ascertain the root cause?

You see why you have been failing multiple job interviews and still remain unemployed

You dive into conclusion without digesting.

For the past 2 months now, people within Warri (Osubi) axis have been on blackout. I made enquiries and was told the fault is from TCN, that the feeder's breaker is bad and needs replacement. I haven't seen any official press release from TCN on that, BEDC tried tweeting about it. This month of June, we had light just for 2 nights (approx. 24hours). TCN should do something about it oh

09.10. That was when my "light" went off - in the middle of making breakfast. Had to find an alternative way to complete the grilling. They're yet to restore the damn light as we speak.

You're calling someone who made a correct statement dumb?
If you travel out of the country on steady basis you will understand issues like this doesn't take them a whole week to fix, highest 2hrs.
In Malaysia there was a thunder storm and a local transformer blew, do you that under that rain the company involved fixed and restored light asap.
Dont give excuses for Nigerian incompetence.
And why would the whole country be thrown into darkeness just blc of a single transmission failure?

Even after making known the cause of the outage. We just getting there and outage should not warrant condemnation.

When the FG said the distribution companies were rejecting megawatts Nigerians castigated them. Now that it has produced evidence they’re still blaming the government. Too many illiterates.
