Nonsense.
Obasanjo is not stuuupid enough to utter such nonsense.
He who lives in glass house does not throw stones.

There is no evidence that Jonathan's personal net worth increased dramatically in the 5 years he was in power.

On the other hand, Obasanjo, though credited with many achievements, squandered Nigeria's Commonwealth like no other, and amassed stupendous financial fortunes during his tenure.
No one can dispute that.

My friend, let's be objective here.

Nigeria is synonymous with corruption, right from say, the 70s, and it has progressively gotten worse over the many decades.
The 1966 coupe was done to overthrow a corrupt federal government.
Murtala Mohammed overthrew Gowon's regime for corruption.
Buhari overthrew the Shagari regime for corruption.

Corruption took a whole new dimension during the ensuing military regimes of Bsabangida, Abacha and Abdusalami.

Then came OBJ. Though adjudged by me as the best we have ever had, his regime was also riddled with corruption, monumental corruption.
It is on record that OBJ spent billions of Naira of state funds for re-election and his third term ambition.
It is on record that he amassed great personal fortunes, bought many state enterprises through his Trasnscorp, etc, while president.
It is also on record that as soon Buhari was sworn in, OBJ quickly returned sum of $200m naira that he was supposedly undecided keeping for the government. A story for the birds. grin
Everyone seems to have developed amnesia about al that.

Then comes GEJ. A humble man with no political pedigree or ambitions. He got down to work, ignoring all the noise and giving his country the best that he could. I rate him the most committed Nigerian leader we ever had.
By virtue of his nature, he was considered a weak leader who could not control the excesses of his subordinates.
And yes, there was corruption during his regime, as there was during OBJ's regime, as there was during Abdusalami's regime, as there was during Abacha's regime, IBB's regime, and the regimes before that, and surely, as there is massive corruption under this current Buhari's regime.

The reason I defend GEJ so passionately is my annoyance at the selective amnesia and dishonesty of most Nigerians who pretend and promote the false narrative that corruption started with Jonathan .
There is absolutely ZERO proof to date that Jonathan enriched himself, his family and friends with public funds.

This current regime has had more misappropriation of public funds in 2 yrs than Jonathan has ever been accused of in his 5 yr reign.

I find it funny, as well as irritating that everyone, including yahoo boys, Pentecostal fraudsters and people who cannot be trusted with N20, all scapegoat and blame Jonathan for the widespread corruption in Nigeria that has its roots squarely in the distorted federation that , a joke of a federation , that we have been running since the 70s.

Ask yourself.
Is boko Haram a reality or fake ?
BUHARI has reportedly spent $2b in 2yrs to fight boko Haram, much more than GEJ reportedly spent on 5 yrs .
Nigerian security related budget in 2016 and 2017 budget surpasses all previous budgets ever.

So who do you think is using boko Haram as ATM?

answering yes or no is so hard for you now huh?

What differentiates you from those who shout sai baba upandan if you think jonathan is a saint?

Just wanted to point out your hypocrisy and you have realised it yourself hence the dribbling like messi.

So you want me to answer in Zombie-speak ? huh

If you are not English comprehension- challenged, then you would have realized that I not only answered your questions, but went way beyond to explain with indisputable facts,. something that I suspect that Buhari Zombies might be allergic to.

I don't think GEJ is a saint.
In fact , I was as critical of his many administration gaffus as I am with Buhari.
But GEJ is undoubtedly a sincere, patriotic man, a much more sincere and patriotic man than Buhari is or would ever be in 10 lifetimes.

I am just appalled and disgusted at the sheer hypocrisy, dishonesty and selective amnesia of Buhari's promoters.

Even when we are being presently ruled by a clinical Vegetable in Aso Rock Villa , they are still cheering him and blaming Jonathan.

a simple and direct that doesn't need long story.

Is jonathan a thief? Did he use boko haram as is atm or not.

We all know obj is a thief and no one is dragging that with you. He used nepa as his own atm but you don't want to admit gej is also a thief who used boko haram as his atm.

The point here is, all past and present leaders are thieves.
The topic here is, GEJ used boko haram as atm, why not face the topic instead of attacking the messenger obj. You could have created a thread for how obj used nepa as his own atm but in your effort to make gej look like a saint and obj the bad guy you showed the world you are just another brainwashed gej zombie who fell for his humble look.

You are the one distorting reality. NO ONE is saying corruption started with Jonathan. I personally will not even describe him as more corrupt than any other leader before him. So that is not the point and the argument that he did not start it which so many of you make is strange. The only relevant thing here is that for once Nigerians used their powwer to vote out a failing leader and Jonathan governed in the era of Twitter of Facebook and so on.Therefore people are better informed and information spreads instantaneously.
Let us forget this It did not start with me argument because it presents an alibi for failure for every future president.

In this case Jonathan was voted into power with a huge mandate and he lost the confidence of the people and he was voted out. The main difference being that because he is from an ethnic minority he was not able to hang on to power by. rigging because that would guarantee his violent removal. People have complained against all leaders in beer parlours in the past. Now they have the internet and so their voices may seem louder
.
It is also on record that Obasanjo was criticized a lot in his time by the opposition but they could not organize themselves successfullyy to remove him which suggests he was a better player of the game than Jonathan and alsoo more successful at manipulating the public discourse and perception of his corruptedness
People like you suggest every president should be corrupt because their predecessors were too.Disgraceful

Your post is most interesting because I agree with everything you have said.
It is also puzzling to me that you find fault in what I have written.
I am not making excuses for Jonathan if you think he was a failed leader. I don't know your definition of a failed leader.

Jonathan's electoral defeat and eventual concession of power was no doubts a great victory for democracy and of also mature statesmanship.
The irony is that reality was really distorted for Nigerian voters to have voted in a man of far less candour, integrity and patriotism than Jonathan.
Anyway, that is history.

Now, Let me ask you.
Do you think that Nigerian democracy is now more stronger or much weaker to be able to repeat the feat of voting out a failed leadership, a clinical Vegetable , as we speak ?
That is the important question.

With respect your question is silly because it presupposes knowlwdge of what the correct way to vote is. Let people vote for whoever they like it is not the choices voters make that is a marker or measure of the strength of a democracy. What is important is that people can choose not what they choose. So your rant about Buhari is just that a rant. Presumably you are a voter and that is the value of your opinion about Buhari and his integrity etc. ONE VOTE among millions so do not flatter yourself about how important your views are.

Lol.
You tactfully evaded my question by choosing to rant about my opinion.
Is just my opinion or fact that we, Nigeria are currently under the stewardship of a physically incapacitated man, a clinical Vegetable ?

Is our democracy now stronger or strong enough to be able to , once again, vote out a failed leadership, just like we presumably did in 2015?
That is a very simple and harmless question, and definitely not a silly question.
