Firstly, thank you for no insults.

I didn't say genes are not perfect. Genes are gotten from both parents and constitute the genetic makeup of an individual - therefore every child gets the genes from his/her parents - who get theirs from their parents and so on. Genetics here is the science of inheritance.

However, there are mutations that come to play during this transfer of genes. Which can be brought upon by environmental factors, nutrition, chemicals one is exposed to. These factors can constitute mutations - damage to the DNA and are heritable. If a parent gets a mutation on a particular gene, s/he passes on to the offspring whether immediately or later on in life, but the gene must be passed on. However, marrying a partner who doesn't have it can "mask" this mutation. Only if the mutation is dominant(big oga) and the partner's recessive (small oga).

An example of such is diabetes. It's hereditary and only if an offspring takes proper care of him/herself, the gene of diabetes will showcase itself. This occurs only if the diabetes's gene is dominant.

Concerning cancer, some are hereditary some are not. Cancers depends on environmental factors, nutrition, accidents etc. Cancer can happen to anyone, however, cannot be transferred to the offspring if the cancer is not a genetic type.
