JOE Igbokwe, the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to proceed on a medical leave if indeed he is truly sick as speculated in some quarters.

Igbokwe is not the first to give this advice as several activists, including notable lawyer, Femi Falana, and Jibrin Ibrahim, had earlier advised the president to heed the advice of his personal physicians without further delay.

The duo in a statement including Debo Adeniran, Chris Kwaja, Y. Z. Ya’u, Chom Bagu, Olanrewaju Suraju, Ezenwa Nwagwu, Anwal Musa Rafsanjani, David Ugolor, ‘Sina Odugbemi, Muhammed Attah and Adetokunbo Mumuni urged Mr Buhari to immediately attend to his health.

“When President Muhammadu Buhari was recently in the United Kingdom on a medical vacation, which lasted 59 days, many public officers said that he was “hale and hearty.” But upon his return to the country President Buhari disclosed that he had never been that sick in his entire life. Even though the President did not disclose the nature of his ailment, he revealed that he went through blood transfusion. While thanking the Nigerian people for their prayers, the President announced that he might soon travel back for further medical treatment.

“A few weeks ago, the Governor of Kaduna state, Mr. Nasir El-Rufai urged Nigerians to give President Buhari time to recover from his sickness. The plea was made after the Governor had visited and presumably assessed the state of the President at the presidential villa in Abuja. However, due to the apparent deterioration in the President’s health condition, he has neither been seen in public in the last one week nor attended the last two meetings of the Federal Executive Council. His absence at the last Jumat service in the villa has fuelled further speculations and rumours on President Buhari’s medical condition.

“But instead of embarking on regular briefing on the actual state of the health of President Buhari, officials of the federal government have continued to assure the Nigerian people that the is no need for apprehension over the matter. In defending the absence of the President at the last FEC meeting and other state functions, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu stated that “the president’s doctors have advised on his taking things slowly, as he fully recovers from the long period of treatment in the United Kingdom some weeks ago.

“As we join the Nigerian people of goodwill to pray for a speedy recovery of President Buhari, we are compelled to advise him to heed the advice of his personal physicians by taking a rest to attend to his health without any further delay.” the statement said.

Adding his voice to the call Igbokwe said, “If he, (President Buhari) is indeed very sick please let him proceed on medical leave here in nigeria or abroad.”

The APC spokesman also prayed for the speedy recovery of the Nigerian Leader.

The reason why the President is being prevented from going to medical leave is because the Mamman Daura led Presidency and APC want to consolidate their hold on power by preventing the VeePee from exercising full Presidential powers in any capacity whatsoever. They also want to cut to size the wings of Asiwaju Tinubu and his loyalists within and outside the FG to ensure that nothing stops their scheme. Unfortunately, the first of such casualty is SGF Lawal Babachir, who has been an ally of Tinubu and was his nominee for the position.

Fighting through 3rd parties like Igbokwe, Lagos APC and other associates will not help Tinubu cause as the Party machinery is clearly loyal to the Daura group.

The best for Asiwaju is to join ranks with progressive Minds in the opposition, not in PDP (which is a problem on its own) but in.... (lips sealed for now).

Tinubu has my support any day...

The play ground of Nigeria politics is always filled with distrust, bias manipulation as no politician can confide in any when it comes to political disposition, we all saw what played out the last time our President went for medical rest as it was coined, There was tension uproar within the sphere of politics as if one faction with intent to hijack the system.

We saw how the northerners were running helter -skelter trying in every means to bring back the President, so power wouldn't slip off their hands.

They want to take charge, cos if the president is taken out for treatment and the 'unlikely' surface (we all know across Nigeria boarders media force is not subjected to limit like our current administration is making it look) the news will spray like whirlwind and that can go beyond control but if such pandemonium befall here, they(carbals) can manipulate news on which I doff my hat for; lai Mohammed, while trying to switch lane to suit their egocentric quest.

Power drunk! The truth is; "cabals won't let him go!"

Don't be silly!.. Jonathan turned a medical tourist in Germany & Nigerians believe the health of the President is a priority. So, stop talking like a birdbrained & wish the President well. Dumbos

The zeal for power has blinded his zeal for collective progress. Should Osinbajo be a Northerner, Buhari would've handed across and over.

Another Thought: If you never believe Reuben Abati's "The Spiritual dimension of Aso Rock" article, then you should startdoing that.

Just look at Winston Churchill below.
