A 7yr old sunday school boy asked his teacher, 1st John 2:15-16 says "do not love the world" but John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world". So why did God love the world and He is preventing us from loving it too? If you were the teacher what would be your answer?

God's loving of the world =PEOPLE
God's telling His children to "not love the world"=the sin ravaged ways of this planet we live on.
Once a person surrenders to Christ, his/her mind changes...he/she begins to think like Christ would.
Love the things He loves.
Hate the things He hates.

Becauese the word Love (Agape)
Is different from the Love translated in other parts of the bible.

John 3:16: God so loved the world (Agape)

John 2:15-16 says, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

("Love" here is equivalent to Lust, as explained by John which is bad)

Secondly the "world" in John 3:16 Refers to 'mankind"
The "world" in John 2:15 refers to the pride of life, the lust of the eyes and flesh which it explains in the remaining part of the chapter.
