I was in for a looooooonng thing.....to cut the story short, I had to pay a local farmer to stay with the car while I went Jebba to fetch the panelbeater who charged my 5k to open the door!!!!

That was very careless of u. How can u leave ur car running on the highway while u go out to take a pee? Turn the car off put re key in ur pocket and do ur thing.

How that mumu boy did it, I still cant figure out.

We were at the 2016 regional convention at Ota when I sent him to get my my Pam slippers from the car, my legs were already hurting from wearing a tight shoe all day.

When I didn't see him after 15 mins I knew there was something amiss. How's he managed to lock the BMW X5 2010 key inside the boot is still a wonder, that I have tried recreating several times but the doors just can't lock with the central lock button especially if it senses the key around and the engine is off.

Now the unfortunate thing is that my spare key is inside my luggage also inside the car. I had packed the spare key because some people have degrees in mischief.
I was suppose to collect my lodging that morning, but the rooms were not ready when I got to the hotel so I had to proceed to the assembly ground with my luggage.

Most certainly not a BMW with security package like mine bro. Happenned to me last year whereby I mistakenly dropped the keys in the booth while loading stuffs inside and slammed it shut and that was how my agony began. Called BMW road emergency and they asked me if my car is equipped with security package, I said yes and they told me nobody can open it, not even them. Only alternative I have will be to order for a new key from BMW headquarters in München ( note that I stupidly kept the spares inside the glove box). The BMW callcenter guy then gave me off-record a number of a Polish locksmith firm he knew that specializes in such hardnut cases. I called them, they came and used all their tools and wits for over an hour to get any of the doors, windows or the booth to even open a little without success. My car had to spend 3 days on a busy road before I got new keys to open it because I wouldn't have them smash open a 300 Euros car window and then go on to destroy the glove box to retrieve the spare because I locked it too with a separate key that the central lock won't activate.
I don't know of other cars but bro., your panel beater can not open a BMW equipped with security package and most BMW cars doesn't come with this package because it's part of the optional expensive Extras.

Hmm for keyless ignition, it is advisable u keep it running but lock it.

so in case of emergency, u can jump in and zoom off.

A panel beater will open it right before your eyes without spoiling anything.

It takes less than 5minutes.I have seen them do it several times.

not all cars that panel neater can open. It happened to me and I broke my glass

The problem with this situation is
1. It is not Nigeria
2. They are focused on it not being possible to "PICK" the locks. That could be difficult.
Nigerian panel beaters focus on getting access to the controls inside the car and using them to unlock the car. The worst would be to bend the car door a bit and gain access to the unlock knob in the car. This is not about picking locks.

Bro., the unlock knob of my car will not yield any result if the security lock is on. They actually managed to get to it with their special wires and pulled and pulled but nothing happened, nothing. When BMW a multi billion dollar firm with generations of technology experience builds something and guarantees their customers that except by smashing the windshield or windows, the doors won't open, then please take them by their word. The security package I'm talking about costs as much as 7000€ extra on a new car ! You can't charge that much for something a Nigerian panel beater will dislodge in minutes or hours. This is not to say I don't know how crafty and smart our Nigerian panel beaters and technicians are but some things are just beyond simplicity.

This one happened around 2003..my brothers were playing with the boot of my mum's car whereby one enters and closes it while the other one opens it with the key.. they continued till one entered with d key and the other one closed it..thank God my mum had a spare key if not dunno wat would have happened that very day

The more reason you're suppose to wind dwn at least in case, I was about traveling, had my spare key in ma hand bag and I mistakenly jam the door with the key in the ignition hole. The rest was pana beater work, just that i was late for the appointment cause of it.

It has not always been like that even my sienna unlocks if you try to lock the door with key in ignition or front doors left wide opened (using the button to lock), the lock had issues then but has since been fixed, from now on, once I enter pesin car to drive I make sure I wind the windows down just in case.

Not all.

Mine has no card. All u need is for the key to be on u.

You can drive for the whole day without seeing the key.

And the door will never lock as long as the key is inside the car.

Ok that explains it. They have to do better to prevent the car from auto-locking when the key is anywhere in the car. That was one hell of experience you had

My brother trust Niger mechanics, I called Henry from Lagos, it took him less than 15 minutes to disable the car lock system open the door and rearrange it back. All it took was sawing thru a screw. I saw people here fighting over weather you can hack into new model BMWs without breaking the window, I decided not to argue.

Happened once and made me feel so stupid. Luckily enough my father house is two streets away and thats where I prefer keeping my duplicate keys. The stupid thing was I only remebered the existence of a duplicate about 20munites after panicking. Now I keep it my handy bag together with the phone, lipstick and all......things I know I never go without.

It's not possible to lock my car key in my car. The door or boot will simply not shut. If it's the boot, it will go back up when you lock it.

I don't fidget in dis kind of situation. Once happened to me and I just called my wife and she just brought out the remote control from far away home, Press the unlock key close to her phone's microphone and i received a beep on my phone and the car was unlocked. That solved the problem.

i Think Honda Baby boy has immobilizer and it is the same Generation with said camry
