King Fahd International (Saudi Arabia) Airport is the world’s biggest airport 160 square kilometers larger than the whole of neighboring Bahrain.

And it’s also covered about 780 square kilometers of Saudi Arabian desert.

Kansai International (Japan) Airport constructed on island which is threemiles off the coast of Osaka.

It took some $20 billion and around seven years for structure and it’s looking large it can be seen from space.

Funchal (Madeira) runway was just 5,000-ft long; it’s difficult for commercial aircraft to undertake.

A clever solution was found in the form of a 3,000ft extension a huge girder bridge.

The Ice Runway is one of three major airstrips used to haul supplies and researchers to Antarctica's McMurdo Station.

As its name implies, there are no paved runways here just long stretches of ice and snow that are meticulously groomed.

Why It's Unique:

There is no shortage of space on the Ice Runway, so super-size aircraft like the C-130 Hercules and the C-17 Globemaster III can land with relative ease.

The real challenge is making sure that the weight of the aircraft and cargo doesn't bust the ice or get the plane stuck in soft snow.

As the ice of the runway begins to break up, planes are redirected to Pegasus Field or Williams Field, the two other airstrips servicing the continent.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands.

With an airport like this, a flight delay or layover doesn’t sound so bad.

The Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the main international airport of the Netherlands, houses its very own museum in Terminal U on Holland Boulevard.

The Rijksmuseum displays paintings by famous Dutch artists and features an always-changing temporary exhibition.

Passengers in transit can access the museum for free from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The unusual attractions don’t stop there, though.

The airport also features a casino as well as a mediation center.

Those who need to refresh while in transit, the airport provides individual shower rooms.
This is interesting. What a way to pass away time while waiting for your flight!

Gibraltar International Airport, British Overseas Territory.

Government of Gibraltar Chances are you’ve never driven a car across an airport runway because well it’s unnecessary and usually illegal.

But if you frequently travel to a little place called Gibraltar, located off the tip of the Iberian Peninsula, and aren’t flying to/from the UK, you don’t have much choice.

This is because the Gibraltar International Airport only services flights to and from the UK.

The only road that connects Gibraltar to mainland crosses through Gibraltar’s airport runway.

To prevent a nasty collision between car and plane, gates stop cars from crossing the runway during plane takeoffs and landings.
same was happening at the Warri old airport which was at the main airport road effurun, they actually block the vehicular and human traffic when ever a flight is arriving or departing cos it uses part of the main airport road. but a new airport was built in the osubi area and this beauty was abandoned.

Explorers, i have heard of the strange Hong Kong airport where its very hard for pilots to land. They have to sight a giant chessboard first, then do sharp and nearly impossible sharp left turn. Surely it's amongst the oddest.
