ajaokuta was a masterpiece in steel and iron productions as at then...but 500k staff is an exaggeration or sort..I was there in 2011 and the whole equipment are in comatose and they are obsolete.. what the company can employ at a go is ~6000 direct staff and about 4000 indirect staff...
but the problem now is steel and iron are now been recycled from scrap metals and China is a leader in this aspect of trade..

1. A lot of you read carelessly. They NEVER said they will provide 500k jobs. You need to understand the context. The 500k includes the direct jobs and the feeder and fed jobs. It is actually talking about the steel market from the steel rolling mill to the last consumer......a whole gamut of employments will be created in that market

2. The company said they will employe 10,000 direct technical staff

Your point is very valid. Lets assume the barest average salary of each person is 50,000naira. That amounts to 25billion naira in a month.
