Honestly the governors Delta, Akwaibom and Bayelsa need to put their acts right. How can Bayelsa be owing primary school teachers' salary despite the huge allocations? we need to start asking them questions.

Am S'S, but we need to cover our heads in shame. our leaders haven't done anything useful with the money they receive

I am yet to see a man on this earth who has made it big time from begging. Check Forbes and get back to me if you can. Five years of responsibility will bring a man to productivity faster than a lifetime of handouts. And anyone who labours for his sustenance will be accountable. His mind is constantly devoted to earnings. Anyone who receives freebies has his mind constantly focused on expenses. You can never be wise until you work. Nigeria can never develop until it restructures.

The other day it was an international conference centre someone used 'scarce' resources to build. A place where people will sit and talk about what...how to give international aid to the citizens of the state.

Do you know that just 5 top tax payers of the state of California can service the needs of most of those states combined. But what is being done about the greatest resource of them all, human capital, nothing. Education is the least priority...because it is impossible to think straight when you don't earn what you spend.

I'm really hoping Ogbeni Aregbe has explanations that matches the decisions he's made on the spendings in Osun State. N1.1bn left after deductions? I wonder what the state's IGR is like these days.

It is no good

The guy just heaped the state with loans

I don't think the igr is up to 2b

What he has done now is to flood the state with oyes boys fining people with trump up charges in order to supplement the state coffers

Even then he is only paying half salaries to

Ogun state is being greatly underfunded by the FG in spite of the great economic contributions to the Nation.
When you divide allocation/capita you would then discover Lagos has one of the least allocation overall.
As for Bayelsa, God would certainly hear the voice of the oppressed because there is obviously no reason they should owe any salary.
Even though Nigeria is too dependent on the SS, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Bayelsa should be able to turn this allocation into more wealth.

To think half of the population of their people live in Lagos

What an Economic Eldorado the SS would have been if it was a country of its own.

Just imagine the immense wealth that would be flowing in the SS with Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa racking up this huge allocation. Not to mention the huge IGR of Rivers and Edo.

God bless the SS.
lol better weekend na from thursday dem dey see am. Economic eldorado my foot! see the big allocations of akwaibom, delta, bayelsa and rivers. In Spite of their little population, those states have nothing to show for it and you are here talking about Eldorado. mstchewww

Governors in the SS are intellectually lazy and are not ready to develop the region. We see enviable development in the SE and SW and yet all the bonga head governors in SS are busy playing politics with the lives of their people.

I no blame Dem, Na d fishy ppl of SS I blame cos after Dem steal your resources finish Dem go go build for Lagos and Abuja while leaving their backyard tattered.

Una SS ppl u better wise up and call your governors to order. Demand for good governance and impactful development.....stop lazing around

Total allocation including deductions this is what the SS gets;

1. Akwa Ibom 38.14bn
2. Rivers 32.41bn
3. Delta 28.49bn
4. Bayelsa 27.29bn
5. Edo 9.46bn
6. Cross River 8.95bn

If not for the parasitic rest, the SS deserve more than this.
No wonder the parasites are scared of all IOCs moving to their region of operation.
The question should be, what is the SS doing with what they have?? If they aren't faithful in little, then there will not be a difference even if they are given everything..

FYI I'm south south

I didnt know Ikwerre clan spoke a different tongue other than Igbo. The last time I watched this demonstration, the Ikwerre women were speaking Ikwerre dialect which is 100% Igbo and can be deciphered by any person from Igboland. The first speaker is Akwa ibom, the second and third etc from Ikwerre.

Because it is money not earned. They owe because next month allocation is just 30 days away. You can book Bayelsa on futures for the next 50 years and spend Bayelsa's money 200 years in advance. Which businessman can do that. Even Dangote does not know what he will earn by years' end. The best he can do is project. And he will have to work like crazy to meet that projection and if he doesn't, shareholders pull down his wealth. If Bayelsa was made to work for its earnings it will not owe workers because they will be revenue generating assets not current liabilities. So it will either need them to raise further revenue or sack them to preserve its balance sheet, but Nigeria is not structured that way.

No state in the SS is linguistically homogeneous including our beloved Rivers State(which you ain't one of us, because your profile just gave you away as one of thos Rivers wannabe from SE).
But we shall sure do better if these leeches from other zones leave us alone.
Though we disagree sometimes that doesn't change the fact that if each state or region was given the opportunity to control its wealth without sharing with these leeches we won't be better off than what we are today.
