elfico:Oh lol Good to know. You're so right about that. And that's the first thing I debated with my colleagues. I was shocked to read that reputable organizations still runs on outdated OS/unpatched. I mean why use Windows XP? I understand if they were IT companies, but health sectors? We indeed have a long way to go in incorporating IT Security in other sectors. Yea, it was actually leaked about a month ago.(And that makes me wonder how much of those weapons NSA has instock And like you rightly stated Microsoft released patches for their OS. But obviously these companies were yet to update them. Forcing Microsoft to release an emergency one on Friday, especially for users who were still running on XP/Vista. I mean, there will always be vulnerabilities in OS's and attackers will always exploit these vulnerabilities, but its left for companies to update when patches are released by their providers. I understand if it was Nigeria. I understand if so many companies were affected because they dint patch their OS. Because in the first place, sadly some reputable companies dont even run on genuine OS in Naija..And with IOT devices gaining grounds. Trust me, this is just the beginning of Distributed attacks. Sad, but truth! |
