there s not much tomatoes in the market. it's 20k in kano.
the season have elapsed. and the farmers have sold off most of what they harvested, and we should note that alot of tomato processing companies that came into operation bought off alot from the farmers. you find pepper all over the place.

Loool Nigerians sha, who doesn't know that there's a time tomatoes is not much in supply, simply because there's almost nothing to harvest again its really no longer in season, same way tatashe is in season now one couldn't see tatashe just few weeks back.

Besides I grew up knowing once the rains comes tomatoes become scarce.

We don't have proper preservation of fresh tomatoes in large quantities yet so we harvest all and sell all.

Last year it was the disease that cause a major scarcity, this time its the season where demand outweighs supply.

Now they will turn this to an APC PDP thing.

Most crops are not exclusively seasonal anymore in developed countries.The technology to develop strains of tomatoes that could be grown all season is already available.

The Agriculture minister will rather spend funds on importing grass to feed herdsmen cattle, than focus on the needed areas that affect all Nigerians.

My advice if he is listening, leave the cattle herdsmen alone, they are running a business and should be able to cover business expenses. If you want to assist them, offer loans. Why use tax payers money to establish herdsmen.

To the topic, its unfortunately really, the problem is we don't have modern storage facilities. All fruits/crops have seasons, in the dry season tomatoes is usually surplus and most of it rots away, in the raining season we now deal with scarcity and higher prices. With adequate storage facilities we can regulate supply all year round.

Simply economics really.
