For those complaining about the age.....read up! I finished my OND around 21 years old and was fortunate to get a job in a multinational company. I combined with schooling and got my B.SC from UI. By the time I finished school and was looking for another job at around 27years old, I already had OND, B.SC and five years working experience. Before you start with the 'you must have had connections' story.....let me quickly chip in that it was God and God alone. My point is this....while you sit and complain all day about how it's hard for you to make it, someone else gas already applied and gotten the next step forward. Y'all will be complaining and making it hard for God to open doors for you.

When you see a door of opportunity open before you, don't start analyzing how it's impossible for you to be a part of it. Youths of nowadays can like to complain ehn...before finishing school sef, most people have used their mouths to shut all opportunities God wants to bring their way....with their shouts of economic hardship, joblessness after graduation, lack of connections etc.

Bros what are you saying sef ? Are you saying that the complains are not justifiable? or our labour laws work? or there is actually no discrimination?

You had the opportunity to gain 5 years of experience before obtaining a degree, does not mean that it is normal to request for a 3-5 years experience from an educational system that produces averagely 26 years old graduates.
It is not like our educational system is designed to include internships on all courses, so where is the experience coming from now?

I'm not justifying the system. Just saying this is where we find ourselves, if we keep complaining and shouting....we would not do anything meaningful till our primetime passes. The government no kuku wan listen. Help yourself....speak positivity into your future and leave complaints because they never help.

you made no sense. No one is complaining about not having jobs but the reality on ground. If you must know experience is relative, some claim to have 10 years experience whilst it was just 10 years of a routine job whilst another have 7 years of varied activities. So who fits in as experienced. Secondly, you must have run part time and atimes, the degree awarded is not always same as a full time. Whilst you made it God factor point, I want you to know your case is just 1 out of 30 graduates outhere. Whatever Oando has put up there does not fit into economic realities in Nigeria. Ofcourse, there are individuals that are 27 years old with 5 years experience but the truth is age restriction should not be put on advert. Candidates can be screened out using ATS but not putting it on adverts.

Well, you could say I make no sense....your choice of words. For your info, I worked full time (shift based) while running a full-time programme in UI (engineering sef). We could keep on complaining about the job restrictions but it won't be changing anytime soon. What would you say about Access Bank training school where they ask you to have comoleteed your NYSC and still be not more than 23? The truth is so many people qualify for these jobs and its a way for companies to screen out a lot of applicants. No one is saying its fair but then it works for these companies and its not their fault either.

Hi bro, I understood what you are saying but try to understand others perspective too. This role is not an entry level as such, putting age restriction of 27years maximum is uncalled for which you and I know it's not always achievable.

You don't need to be told that, this is a professional role. Experience, 3-5years' in same position applying for, that is, if you are applying for an accounting position, you MUST have worked as an accounting officer, auditor for at least 3years to be considered. Also, having ICAN, ACA, CFA etc is an added advantage. So, they now tagged age barrier 27years maximum. Are they kidding me? Let me be frank here, I graduated 2010 at 26, my school only mobilize NYSC for batch B & C. Then we waited till July, 2011 for batch B. Finished NYSC July, 2012. Struggled to get professional job 2014. I am sure you know what my age is now?.

Even if they want to put age restriction, it should have been at most 35years. So, even if you falsify your age and claim to have 3years' professional experience, they will surely fish you out because, they will conduct their own underground investigation.

They should have tagged the experience to be 0-1year then call it entry level opening. But for these present roles, it is a pure professional/experienced role.

Regards.

True. During my undergraduate days, a reputable organization came to do PR (in the name of recruitment...they didn't employ anyone at the end of the day). When we asked if there was age restriction, we were told it's against international standards to put age limits on job adverts in Engineering but the truth of the matter is that they were just being formal about it. When the chips are down and they want to employ, they would definitely have out age limits in their advert.

Most of the guys in my class in the university graduated below 23. Tell me how hard it would be for a company to get these stringent requirements from guys like that if they finish service latest by 24 and are lucky to get jobs immediately after service (which was indeed the case for some of them). I'm not justifying the conditions, I'm just saying we shouldn't let them limit us. Age limits or not, we should always have the mindset that we would can and would get jobs despite the conditions attached. Most jobless graduates today don't have jobs today because they spoke joblessness into their futures right from their undergraduate days.

Emphasis on 'fortunate'.

I get your point bro. Thing is, not everyone is as fortunate as you. Some people had great first degrees and were fortunate enough to get into IOC's age 22-24. By the time I finished service, I was already past 'recruitment age' for most companies and that's how it's different for many others. It's easy to see why your post rubs off as lacking empathy because you make everything sound so easy.

Away from that, I totally get your point. Our words hold power so we should always confess and see things positively to attract them our way.

Don't say what you don't know.... I know of someone that is outside Nigeria and will still be taking the test online. Me will be coming down to Lagos sha, osun is not that far
masonkz:
Workforce should go beyond this method of physical assessment and move on with the world.

Tests of this nature should be done online as people would need to travel for this. Imagine living outside Nigeria and having to book flights for test and then interview, when you won't be reimbursed for these. There's a reason multinationals contract shl and the likes for these kinda first stage elimination tests.

Really don't know why Oando had to involve Workforce. Oh well.

Will the person take the same test? How would there be fairness if some people are supervised and one person is not? Like the use of Calculator. Or the person you know is a special candidate?

Why don't we all write online from wherever we are? Hope it's not too late for me to claim that I'm out of the country so I can have mine online too?
