LordAdam16:Two links used in a reply to describe El-Rufai as a bigot is you desctription of "pummeling" . Dude get realThanks for admitting your sensory tardiness with the bolded statement. I don't have patience for NL members whose line of reasoning is of the "Everyone knows..." variety so I will take my chances with Omohayek as you advised. I have wasted enough time on you, Sir. |

Blue3k:You don't understand the implications of what you are saying ,these foreign companies won't do a better job and the workers/masses will suffer, they will pack the profit and use it to develop their own country, in the case of phcn did light get better and you did notice that phcn was bought by Nigerian politicians.bros think am well o before you support selling off the country's revenue. |

LordAdam16:bots like sarrki and their crew are grabbing at straws to maintain their pay and continue to deceive other unsuspecting bots. they political class you mentioned knew exactly what they were doing - grabbing power at all cost (Nigerian Mentality) to the detriment of the populace. Their main aim was to gain access and control Nigerian's treasury as they were under illusion that they can outperform GEJ. |

LordAdam16:if by now u havent seen the proof of how damaging GEJ was to Nigeria then am sorry for u. So GEJ power privatization was a success? So why is a $500m power plant built by Barth Nnaji laying idle in Aba while people in Aba have no power? Why are the Disco companies not able to provide meters to users? have u tried buying a meter before? Are u aware AEDC belongs to GEJ? As a contractor in Abuja for over 14yrs i dont need lectures on GEJ and what he destroyed in this economy, my disappointment is in how an educational system can produce people that type good english sentences like u did but cannot look at cold facts and make objective conclusions. And lastly u must be ibo because that is the only tribe in Nigeria where both educated and illiterate hold the same point of view on all issues. |

LastProphet:Dude. The power privatization process was a success. Whether it satisfied our hopes on what it'd mean for electricity supply in Nigeria is a whole other issue. GEJ sold a magnificent cash cow. Selling it alone is a success. Anyone who has the guts to look Nigerians in the eye and say certain underperforming cash cow properties have to be sold is a visionary. OBJ did it with the Refineries that Yar'Adua scuttled and GEJ did it with PHCN. I don't think I have to inform you that $16b was spent by OBJ on power and Nigeria added only 1000 MW. Do you know how much Nigeria has saved between 2013 and now from money that would have been spent on power? Now that the why has been answered. Let's look at the process itself. The money paid for selling to the DISCOS and GENCOS was all used to pay off the workers. Every single kobo was accounted for. GEJ effectively shared the money for the sale to Nigerians who had supported NEPA/PHCN for so long. As to the GENCOS and DISCOS underperforming, that is not because of GEJ. That the companies have been acting trashy does not mean that privatization is awful. NTEL that bought over NITEL isn't really performing as intended is it? It doesn't make the sales of NITEL a failure. If we are having a perennial metering issue, the current FG should get on the table and do what is necessary to get the DISCOS to comply. If they can't, then they are spineless. It is as simple as that. It seems this administration only finds the political will to do things when the person they're going against is a present or potential foe like what the NPA is doing to Atiku's INTELS or what AMCON did to Silverbird. Is that proper? Experts have been calling for independent metering. There are investors practically begging to setup meter manufacturing plants to feed an open market for meters. Has Fashola and Buhari listened to the voice of reason? If they aren't listening, how is that GEJ's fault. If they're giving the DISCOS more time to get on track, how is that GEJ's fault? Can you hear yourself? Just days back the NERC finally allowed the GENCOS to sell electricity directly to consumers because of the persistent issue of DISCOS returning electricity. Isn't that commendable? Isn't that looking for solutions to existing problems. Isn't that what the FG should be doing? Or do you expect the privatization to work like a charm hitch-free? And you call yourself a contractor... Do you know how much the government is owing the GENCOS and DISCOS? Or do you trust the government to always tell you the whole picture? Where I am from is not relevant. In SE and SS most people value what GEJ did. In SW and NC, half of the population value what GEJ did. The NW and NE are ruddeless, no one cares what the most backward regions in Nigeria thinks. They can't even think. If you say GEJ's administration is corrupt that's one thing, saying he destroyed the economy is complete balderdash. Even Tinubu and Osinbajo would not agree with that analysis. I've been civil with you because you appear to be like the majority who do not have the time to think through issues deeply. So, I laid it bit by bit for you. If you still think you are right after this explanation, you are the one that needs pity. -Lord |

LordAdam16:The privatization was done by Sambo and that is why Barth was sent out of a meeting he was supposed to chair and sacked at the same moment by Sambo a known thief from his days in kaduna as commissioner of finance. You avoided answering the Aba power plant issue, so since gej did well why is enugu disco which controls aba sold to a brief case business man like emeka ofor? how did his company interstate power win a lot that Barth Nnaji's obviously more competent and invested company bidded for as well? so u still dont know why the discos cant buy meters or expand distribution infrastructure? Because they are not financially capable even from the beginning and because they are not qualified power companies! simple. You mentioned nerc recent directive in favour of gencos, didn't u hear the details behind it? why were discos returning power to gencos even while many areas remain unserved? because they havent been able to expand infrastructure! They are politicians and not power companies! The gencos out of frustration asked the fg to give them permission to sell directly since the discos cant put their acts together. The Discos keep lying that the TCN was sending power to areas of low income and that was why they reject the power - are u kidding me? See i don't have time for an over flogged matter like gej. Jonathan was a monumental failure, i repeat a monumental failure. the power privatization is just one of the smallest sins of gej, pls i dnt hv time |
| Re: Osinbajo orders 24-hour operations at Apapa Port by LordAdam16: 1:41pm On May 21, 2017 |
LastProphet:Trash! You keep jumping all over the place without saying anything concrete. And it's clear you are just vomiting incoherent nonsense. The fact that they are politicians have nothing to do with the competency of the companies they manage. INTELS is owned by Atiku. Tinubu has multiple companies that are contracted by the Lagos government. There is no sale or contract in Nigeria that would not go to well-connected people who have stakes in the companies that bid. Look at the recent oil lifting contract sharing. The same old names filled the list. It is the same thing everywhere. Read about Lockheed Martin's multiple gaffes and contract inflation and corruption allegations in the US and how they keep receiving contracts time after time. This is the reality. Lobbying is legal in all democracies around the world. Were politicians not part of the people that bought GENCOS, why are the GENCOS not performing as poorly as the DISCOS? You are high on something that is contraband. You said DISCOS haven't expanded infrastructure. Have the government cleared their huge debt? Or how do you reckon they go for loans in a country where the average interest rate is 30% (the highest in two decades) in a very capital-intensive industry with low returns with very little confidence by independent assessors. In one sentence you said both the GENCOS and DISCOS are a disaster and then in the next sentence single out the DISCOS to solely take the blame. And then in the same sentence blame the person who sold PHCN rather than the people who bought the unbundled parts for the shoddy nonsense they are doing. In all of this, you do not blame the current administration that is doing very little to check the excesses of the DISCOS. You are talking about Barth. Is it legal for a Minister's company to bid for a project that his ministry is seeking bids for? Why was Lawal sacked? Are you normal? Or do you prefer to appear st*pid. Barth's company AFAIK has an outstanding issue with EEDC. It is up to him to resolve the issues. How does that concern GEJ? You seem to be out of your mind. As at May 9, the NBET said Geometric Power was one of the companies that "have not completed registration as power market participants."--http://leadership.ng/2017/05/09/international-consumer-pays-nbet-159m-for-power/ Is it GEJ that would complete the registration for him? Is GEJ still the President. Don't let me insult you this Sunday afternoon. Better respect yourself. There are performing businesses owned by politicians in Nigeria. Yet you'd choose to pick on the ones that are not performing. Then amazingly blame GEJ for the performance of privately-owned power companies. Even a mad man would marvel at your sill*ness. -Lord |

LordAdam16:so u didn't read that Nnaji declared to govt before been appointed that he'd continue to hold on to his shares in geometric? do u even know why the govt looked for Nnaji at all? So you said gej was phenomenal yet u acknowledged the privatization under him was like any other? is your flat head working? So an investing service provider organization that knows must roll out infrastructure bids for a license in the hope they will get all their finances from commercial banks? So that was how mtn rapidly rolled out their network? what made econet to fail? do u know or u were still in primary school then? do u now see the kind of shortsighted hopeless illogical reasoning that gets your flat skulled brothers caught every 12 hrs trying to smuggle drugs to where they hv no chances of succeeding? u flatskulls are a hopeless bunch and i repeat u are the only tribe that have the educated and the illiterate having the same perspective. Why useless leaders including buhari decide u shud remain in Nigeria really shows how hopeless this country is |
| Re: Osinbajo orders 24-hour operations at Apapa Port by LordAdam16: 5:08pm On May 21, 2017 |
LastProphet:Obama was phenomenal in stabilizing the US economy. Did he put a stop to Lockheed Martins extravagance? The joke is on you mister. Saying trash without shame. You've moved from PHCN to smuggling of drugs? Just look at how hopeless you've become. Answer a simple question: Is it legal for Barth to have bid with his company on a project under his Ministry? Yes or no? And you're here talking about secession. Who is talking about secession here? Jumping from pillar to post after you have been humiliated. So according to you, companies don't use banks abi? They have a stash of cash kept somewhere and banks are for fancy. Your head is not correct. Look at Etisalat and the banks wahala. You want the DISCOS to enter that kind of situation just to please your empty skull. No wonder you are a shameless contractor. You know nothing about running a business. -Lord |
| Re: Osinbajo orders 24-hour operations at Apapa Port by LastProphet: 5:50pm On May 21, 2017 |
LordAdam16:oh so u are told all contractors go to the banks? am sure successful Julius berger goes to the bank to deliver projects right? you talked of etisalat, do u know why they have the lowest coverage? do u know who convinced them of this ur amateur model that works only in developed countries with 1% interest rate? the man formerly owned a bank in Nigeria so ask another flat head like u he might know better. do u know what percentage of mobilization is even allowed under the public procurement act? and am sure a morooon like u think u can even walk to the bank and withdraw it? u are a fooool most likely a student reading newspapers instead of ur course textbook. ur teacher didnt tell u interest rates are high in developing countries? so the discos didn't know of our interest rates before bidding? in 2011 December i took a loan from fcmb wuse 2 branch at 28% per annum so the discos didnt know that before bidding? once again u are hopeless morooon |
| Re: Osinbajo orders 24-hour operations at Apapa Port by LordAdam16: 7:29pm On May 21, 2017*. Modified: 10:32pm On May 21, 2017 |
LastProphet:And here you go again talking a bunch of baseless trash without making a single point. DISCOS are Nigerian companies. Nigerian companies (at least most of the small to medium sized ones) mainly patronize Nigerian banks for capital. This is not just about DISCOS, it's about the GENCOS and even core private sector establishments from Air Peace to Oranto Oil. All of them are indebted to banks at high interest rates. The only major issue is that the yield in the power sector is ridiculously low unlike other sectors, and unfortunately the country as it stand and its government are too far gone to consider increasing the yield for these companies. Fashola was lampooned for the last increase in tarrifs. This is the reality of the situation. The private power sector is still too young for the banks to take the kind of risks they take with the private oil sector. Etisalat is bad management period. Why do you think Etisalat UAE doesn't want to clear the log something they can do comfortably without blinking. Is Glo not indebted to the banks? They make up for their heavy indebtedness by ridiculously low tarrifs and let their network remain shitty except in high yield locations because they can't afford to have the kind of coverage that MTN and Etisalat have. Business 101. You are comparing Julius Berger that was founded in 1950 before Nigeria got independence to companies that are less than 10 years old. You are comparing Julius Berger in the very lucrative construction sector (with inflated contracts and over 60% market share) to the capital-intensive and low yield power sector. Now I know I've been talking to an a*e. I'd like to know what came about of the loan you took in 2011. I'm pretty certain you are in a rut. Look at the South African companies, they only enter sectors with decent yield because they understand the Nigerian market. Sectors like telecoms, digital entertainment, retail. You would not see them in Power or growing crops because the yield is low. The yield for the aforementioned three sectors is high and it offsets whatever high rates the banks whether partly in Nigeria and South Africa charge. Some of the discos are doing well. They have an association and that's why the bad eggs, like the notorious EEDC seem to ruin the reputation of all the players, because it is an all or nothing situation. They all rise together or fall together. But for the bad eggs, it is all down to bad management and the typical reality in Nigeria that it is difficult to do business. Not to talk of in a low yield sector like power. Combine that with the present incompetent government that's too slow to take key decisions, and what you have is the recipe for failure. Why do you think the government did not sell the transmission part? Far easier to maintain and too few loopholes for government appointees and civil servants to skim off the top. Still GEJ left over 6000MW of transmitting capacity with a lot of projects on ground yet to be completed. We are already nearing 7000 MW as the Buhari government have tried in maintaining activity on ongoing projects. You do know these projects take years to complete. The power sector is not a sector that you can look and say only so and so person is at fault and this person is in the all clear. But at least, we aren't throwing money into an empty hole anymore. All the billions of dollars we are receiving from grants and low-interest foreign loans as a country are invested mostly into uncompleted generation, transmission, and rural electrification projects. Instead of having tens of thousands of redundant staff with thousands of ghost workers receiving continuous pay even though they are glaringly underperforming, we now have only a few boards (that are still overpaid by the way--the NERC board numbering less than a dozen people shared more than half a billion naira in statutory allowances, note not salaries in 2015, they are paid like the NNPC and NLNG board). We aren't there yet, but if we keep taking good decisions like the recent GENCO approval to sell electricity directly and the implementation of independent metering directive, we'd edge closer to where we are supposed to be. I wonder why you fault the DISCOS for not providing meters as if civil servants in PHCN would have done any better. Is it not in this country that ordinary national identity card has not being delivered for up to 3 years now. Simple card. Booklets for National Passports have been scarce for months now. You are an enemy of Nigeria! Look at what Ibe is doing with the refineries. He has seen that the populace do not want them to be sold and know they are far easier to manage than power generation, transmission, and distribution. And more importantly, the yield is high. Now he is concessioning the repair and management of the refineries to private operators. It is not perfect, but it is way better than giving money to civil servants to repair refineries that they see as their own way to get their share of the national cake. And it is already working. Our refined yield last month was the highest ever in 2 decades. You've bounced from GEJ was a failure for privatizing, to only the DISCOS were a failure because the companies were owned by politicians, then you entered DISCOS shouldn't have being given to Nigerian companies who loan from Nigerian banks (later you'd be the same people cheering for local content and lamenting on how foreign companies come into Nigeria to expatriate billions of dollars pack to their home countries), then you moved into secession matters (I wonder whether you had smoked something at that point) and Nnaji; now you've gone full circle to talk about interest rates and the power sector. Can you see how you drifted aimlessly and still made no sense! You still cannot answer the question on the legality of Nnaji's company bidding on a project under his ministry, but you had enough time to talk about a loan you collected in 2011. Like, WTF?! Did I ask you if you had collected a loan or not? How is that relevant to this discussion? Answer the damn clear question I asked. Don't talk sh*t without focus. -Lord |

LordAdam16:u talk some sense then before u are taken serious u mix it effortlessly with bulls...t. so u hv answered what u were first asked? Why did the Nigerian govt decide to go ahead with appointing Nnaji even after knowing and been told by Nnaji himself, that he couldn't relinquish control of his shareholding? This question led to another which was do u know why Nnaji was looked for and appointed at all? Do u? so as coherent as u fancy ursef to be u didn't see those questions? u are the type carried away by ur own perceived invincibility abi? i think u can do better, u at least show some adnirable aptitute. As for my business been in a rut i have nothing to prove to an anonymous entity on public blog, nothing, but if it helps i finance contracts even for others, if pride will let u if u ever get any contract (capital project) with credible agenciess like cbn, ncc, sec, ptad, firs, ptdf, pef, neiti, nhis, nbet, nerc, etc, come to me with a credible collateral i will help u |
| Re: Osinbajo orders 24-hour operations at Apapa Port by LordAdam16: 10:26pm On May 21, 2017 |
LastProphet:You still haven't learned anything from your trashing have you? The law does not say an elected official or political appointee cannot have a company. Trump did not relinquish control of his group of companies when he became president of America. I'm giving that reference because we practice the American Presidential system. Lawal was not dismissed because he owned Rhodavision. Lawal was dismissed because he bid with his company and awarded contracts to his company. That is the problem. How old are you that I have to explain things in simple terms before you understand. Barth should never have bid with his company while he was still the Minister. That is illegal. He played into the hands of those who wanted him out. Which is a shame because he was the best Minister of Power we had. I personally would have preferred if GEJ had swept the issue under the rug (of course he was wrong, but his expertise was needed), but it was a big issue that should have led to prosecution, and GEJ instead gave him soft landing. As to whether I have a perceived sense of invincibility. That's not entirely true. I only comment on issues I'm well versed in on NL. You wouldn't find me in the Art or Auto section. If I go there and argue st*pidly, I expect to be whooped by those who are knowledgeable about those fields. This however is my playground and I don't have to be invincible, I only need to use verifiable facts to support my positions. I give people their due. You see me here commending the government on some policies and reprimanding them on most others. You'd never see me saying GEJ's administration isn't corrupt or that he didn't make mistakes. Where you'll see me take issues is when people like yourself make blanket statements that are baseless and untrue. Saying GEJ was a complete failure is a fallacy. The facts do not support that position. And that's why I repeatedly take people to the cleaners. If you are going to have a position and scream it from the roof tops, you better as hell have facts to back it up or be rest-assured that I'd make you sorry. You have said nothing in over 6 replies to substantiate your position that GEJ was a failure. You've only beat around the bush without making any concrete verifiable claim. You've been jumping aimlessly. First, GEJ shouldn't have privatized PHCN. Then you moved to he should have privatized, but not to companies owned by politicians. Then you moved to he should have privatized and sold to companies owned by politicians except the DISCOS. Then you moved to he should have privatized and sold to companies owned by politicians including DISCOS as long as the companies had enough cash reserves to foot their bill. Then when I showed how s*lly that position is, you switched to talking about secession and Barth Nnaji. Just look at the mess you made. You couldn't even bring yourself to answer a simple YES or NO question. I've shredded whatever credibility you have left like I did to Omohayek. It has nothing to do with invincibility. It has everything to do with saying things you can't prove. Taking loans and telling me you have good financial connections has nothing to do with it. Because if you really have been a contractor in Abuja for 14 out of the 16 years of PDP rule, then you have benefited from the same failure you are wrongly referring to here. Whether a company you are allied to lost the bid for any of the DISCOS or GENCOS, I don't know. But if you really have the connections you say you have, then you know the rules of the game is the same everywhere. Go and read about the Asian tigers miracle especially that of South Korea. The government sold national assets to indigenous Korean companies and then protected them from foreign competition. Those Korean companies form the all-powerful chaebol that you know of today, that include Samsung, Hyundai, LG, SK Telecom and others. Virtually all the companies owned by politicians that bought some of the GENCOS and DISCOS are not managed by the politicians. The companies usually have their own boards and CEOs and run with minimal interference. The politician usually only has majority stake. The smart politicians like Atiku, Tinubu, Arthur Eze let people with business expertise and acumen run the businesses, while they use their political connections to get first-hand information about new opportunities. It is the same thing everywhere. Why you singled GEJ out of all the regimes on the planet, including regimes in the gold standard US, where this happens is beyond me. It almost sounds like a grievance, a vendetta, because you made absolutely no sense. You have just been venting needlessly about nothing. Better take a chill pill. GEJ is not the cause of your problems, whatever they are. -Lord |
