It's been long that I comment here... I just read the news and some few responses... I see people don't use their real names because majority are just babies and talk anyhow... Just like GEJ qualified to contest 2015 election under the law, Fayose qualify to seek possible interpretation of the law as he said and there is no need for most of the anti Fayose posts here just wait and see the outcome of the ruling after all he still well over one year as governor.

Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State said on Monday that he would contest his removal from office during his first term tenure.
The governor spoke on his monthly public enlightenment programme, “Meet Your Governor in Ado Ekiti”.
He said since the Supreme Court had ruled that his impeachment was illegal, null and void, he reserved the constitutional right to so contest the removal.
According to him, since his tenure had been adjudged by the Supreme Court to have been illegally truncated, he had no option than to approach the same court to seek interpretation of the judgement.
The governor said the pertinent question to ask the court was whether by virtue of an earlier judgement in his favour dismissing his removal, he had no right to seek to complete his remaining tenure of seven months.
He emphasised that the case as to whether he was entitled to complete his tenure or not must first be determined before there could be another governorship election in the state in 2018.
Mr. Fayose was sworn in for the first term tenure in May 2003, but his tenure was terminated through impeachment on October 16, 2006.
Meanwhile, the governor has said that he was not bothered by the ongoing strike by fuel dealers in the state.

He said he would not rescind his decision to stop further erection of filling stations in residential areas, even if they strike for one year.
He said demolition of such fuel stations, including those erected near schools would commence on Tuesday.
Besides, he placed a ban on commercial activities in all fuel stations that were currently on strike.
He said there was no way he could allow shops attached to fuel stations to be opened to business when the real filling station was closed to motorists.
Mr. Fayose expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for renaming the Federal University, Oye Ekiti after the late Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo, saying “I begged for it.’’

But the supreme court added almost a year each to Alhaji Ibrahim Idris ( Kogi) and four other governors in 2011

Their was reelection in their respective cases. The initial elections were cancelled and another conducted. SC only held that their terms should start from when they took the oath of office after the reelection as against when they first took oath of offices for the cancelled elections. This is quite different from what Fayose is asking for. The closest case to Fayose's case is that of Murtala Nyako and SC has settled that once and for all

Why only 7 months extension.
Fayose shud as well approach the Supreme Court to grant him a full 4yrs to complete his truncated first tenure!
Whenever I see d likes of Fayose, fmr president GEJ, holding office in 21st century Nigeria,i sometimes tend to agree with those that say that Nigeria as presently structured is doomed.
If each region is allowed to develop on its own,as it was during d first republic or so,i bet by d time a state such as Ekiti sees how far other regions and Co states av left it backward, even before an election, they wud chase out d likes of Fayose from office with stones, sticks and cudgels!

And what of the likes of Buhari?
Anyway, I don't blame you since uii can still afford subscription

The case is DEAD ON ARRIVAL and a waste of time and resources.

Peter Obi was illegally impeached in 2006, yet the court didn't add even 1hr to his tenure after he was reinstated.

Rasheed Ladoja was illegally impeached in January 2006 and was reinstated in December same year, yet the SC refused to add 1hr to his term even after he approached the court.

Admiral Nyako's 2014 impeachment has been declared illegal yet Supreme Court in December dismissed his appeal for reinstatement.

Fayose should prepare to handover. Power is transient. I guess he never thought that a day will come when he will no longer be governor...

Well articulated. With facts too! Fowlyose should prepare for his Waterloo. It's near.

The SC DID NOT.

What happened was that the reelection of Ibro was cancelled and a fresh one was held in 2008, which he won.

Instead of INEC to conduct a fresh election in 2011, it elected to start counting the term of Ibro from the 2008 he was sworn in the second time instead of when he was first sworn in in his second term (in 2007).

So the SC ruled that it was illegal of him to still remain in office after 2011. That was when Ibro stepped aside for the Speaker who acted as Governor until Wada was sworn in in 2012 January because Ibro was not supposed to spend an extra day in Office.

At least for the first time, your spoke the reality about the governor of my state's decision who believes that life is all about himself and how loud he can shout to draw attention and sympathy. We are already counting down for this yeye , pomo-cutting. governor.
