Hello everyone, i have been offered admission to study Tropical forestry in TU Dresden.
i found out that the Department is isolated from the main university Campus and located in a small town called Tharandt.
i want to ask from the experienced people in the house if it is advisable to go for this particular course , cuz I'm scared i might not get job opportunities in this small town, please help!!!

Sir/ma... please don't waste your time and money. Unless you want to be lied to, that course sounds like garbage

Hello All,

Big Kudos to all the contributors on this platform. It is quite informative.

Quick questions to all the gurus in the house. I intend applying for an M.Sc programme in computer science or related IT courses next year, and i'm considering 3 schools; TU Munich, TU Berlin and TU Darmstadts.

I have a 3.49 CGPA in computer science (2nd class lower; 0.1 denied me of a 2ND class upper).

Also, 5 years good working experience as a systems administrator/IT specialist.

What do you think are my chances of getting an admission to this schools especially TU Munich and TU Berlin?

What criteria(s) are mostly considered for a successful application?

Munich or Berlin; which city would be more suitable for a naija boy to study / hustle?

How can I get them to wave the IETLS/TOEFL test, since I have a proficient English Language skills?

Are there any known scholarship programmes for Nigerians to study in Germany.

Any other useful information will be highly appreciated.

Many thanks for your help.

Most of your questions have been answered so many times on this thread. If you can read back, all your questions will be answered.

1. You can be admitted in both schools but it depends on specific courses requirements. Check the requirements of your intended course.

2. Criteria for Admission will be seen on the course website. A strong SOP is highly recommended.

3. Munich and Berlin are among top ten students cities in the world.

4. Contact the school for IELTS.

5. You are required to be enrolled before you apply for Deutschland Stipendium.. DAAD is very competitive. Course websites have available scholarships list under fees and funding. You have to do the work yourself.

Paparazzis in the house, I stand to be corrected tho....

There is nothing like that . People have used it and they are still using it and no issues. Embassy will neither put it up on their website if it is bad nor recommend it. Shalom

Good day everyone.

Please i would be immensely grateful if anyone can provide me with first hand information.

I have been awarded QEM Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. My first semester would be in Universitat Bielefeld, I would be grateful if someone can assist me with valuable first hand information on Visa application.

Caveat: I have read enough information from the German embassy website and I'm not a lazy reader, I just need first hand information.

Thanks for taking your time and effort to provide a befitting response, I would be anticipating your prompt responses.

Thank you.

what's your cgpa? is the admission restricted? do you have IELTS? do you have experience in this field (undergraduate project, undergraduate courses/modules, work experience)? was your recommendation letter(s) well written enough to prove you can academically succeed and carry out research from your lecturers? was your SOP detailed and motivated?
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by ninered: 8:04pm On May 24, 2017
So I set out today with a 20k budget. I planned on certifying one set of documents at the embassy for free, then waybill it through dhl @ N18,200 and spend the remaining N1,800 on transport and feeding.
I was shocked when I got to the embassy. When it got to my turn the white guy typed something into the computer and was like:
White guy: You have been here before
Me: yes sir smiley
White guy: and you certified docs for 4 schools
Me: well yes
White guy: For this 5th application you'll pay N3,300
Me: But Excuse me sir, when I certified those documents it was done for free and that was in February also the new policy only started this month of May.
White guy: It doesn't matter
Me: What?! shocked
I have heard of the new policy but I thought it meant if you come with more than 3 set of docs you pay didn't know they'll go into their archives.
I had to think fast... If I go it would all be a wasted effort but if I pay I'll have a N3,300 deficit in my budget. Anyways I grudgingly paid the money but left the embassy like a bizman who had just lost his container of goods in the ocean.
@ 2pm I picked up my docs and my next move was dhl for waybill but I was short of 3.3k. FedEx is 16k but it still did not solve the 3.3k deficit. Calling anyone for money wasn't an option and I had to stick to my 20k budget. If you're wondering why I didn't use Nipost or whatever, well my deadline is 31st May and I need it delivered within 2-3days.
@ dhl office
The nice lady: Good afternoon , how may I help you?
Me: I have a package for Germany, school docs to be precise
The nice lady: it would cost you N18,200
Me: these are school docs and I want a discount.
I thought she would just laugh at my silly comment of "discount" but instead she looked at me typed sth in the computer and said: "erh...uhm...OK actually we have student discount and it would cost me N13,200 instead.
Nah wow ooo!!! shocked
Me: So you people do student discount and you never mentioned it and I spent 18.2k the last time hmmm...there's God ooo
The nice lady: sorry I forgot to mention it and its just a new policy.
I knew she was lying but thank God sha. On my way home I met two people I haven't seen for sometime. The first was a young girl she is a hardworking apprentice hairdresser. I dashed her 500 naira maybe because I was in goodmood and I just saved extra money from dhl. The 2nd person was a schoolmate, he was excited to see me and said we should go hangout that he would pay. God knows I was very hungry and haven't eaten since morning. Oh boy! I ate and drank more than my initial I.8k budget for food and transport, he even dropped me off at my place.

I know my post is long but who cares? I met an old friend, I'm 6000naira richer and God watches over me cool

So [/b]
Thank God for us. Had similar experience today.
Yesterday I went looking for FedEx office over a different parcel, but the description I was given led me to a property shared by DHL,UPS and one other courier service. So I went to the UPS office and inquired where FedEx office was, they gave me direction. But before I left,I asked them how much it'll cost me sending documents of about 30 pages to Germany, the man then asked if it's for studies and I said yes, so he responded N13,500. I then told him I'll be back following day.
Today I went there with the documents and when it was weighed (0.5kg) he said it's N18,500. I exclaimed 'but you remember you told me N13,500 yesterday and I said I will come back and you'll give me discount'. He now said he didn't remember, but even if he'll give discount the cost will be N15,200. I smiled and turned to the female staff beside him and said to her but she was there when he said N13,500. He jokingly asked her if she remembers and she said she wasn't paying attention. So,I told him that I was even there with only N11,500 thinking it'll suffice,he then said 'nooo',that if at all they'll give discount I should pay the N13,500. So I ended up paying the N13,500.
So why I wrote this long gist is I believe there's competition among them (courier service) and perhaps another strong reason that makes them charge students far less.
#those who still have packages to send should shine their eyes well!
Goodluck to us.

The discount has always been there. But they won't mention it unless you ask for it. I paid 10k at Courier Plus earlier this year.
