Xbee007:Have you been to an NYSC camp? Who do you think do the cooking? Ghosts? Oh, you think Nigeria has the money to recruit cooks to cook meals for all the corp members in all the camps across the country abi. Anyway, just so you didn't know, it's corp members themselves that cook their meals. Each platoon has a specific day they send their representatives to the kitchen who then cook the meal for the entire camp under the supervision of camp officials. As for Muslim corp members during Ramadan, there is usually an arrangement where some Muslim corpers and MCAN representatives in that state (mostly women) get foodstuff from the Camp kitchen which they cook before Sahur and Iftar daily. And of course, you also have the mammy market where you can get just about any kind of meal you want. The NYSC as a whole is very serious with corp members' welfare and MCAN is always very particular about Muslim Corpers' welfare (I know because I have personal experience). These people asking for special treatment because of Ramadan are just being mischievous. Religion is a personal thing and last I checked, Nigeria is a secular state. 5 Likes |
