total oil 4 liter - 4,100

total oil 1 liter - 1,200

oil filter - 2,500

labour - 1,500

grand total - 9,300 naira only.

i dont know where you come from. but from where i come from, spending 9,300 naira on a car that does almost 4,000 miles and makes almost 400,000 naira in 3 weeks is not a "bloody waste"..... it's just common sense.

I agree, if you truly do 4000 miles in 3 weeks, then perhaps it makes sense then......but that oil.

Im curious to know what kind of car you use..........4100 for 4 litres of oil for a 2004+ vehicle.......you are definitely using the wrong oil.

With 9300, I cant buy 4 litres of the oil I use in my car. 4 litres of 5w30 will cost you 13500 from Mobil, 1 litre @ 3500, oil filter 2500, labour 1500 - total - 21000 for an oil change in my car a 2004 lexus.

Hi everyone, good morning.

Please I need clarification on something. According to what I have read on this thread, the minimum car year is 2008, while on Uber website it is 2003.

Has it been changed? Really confused.
It is now 2003 cars upwards it has been changed. But when you are signing up on the website 2008 might be the least year you will see just pick it like that and it will be resolved later. You can use this link to sign up t.uber.com/rukevwe

using total mineral 20w50 oil is not advisable for this kind of business cos it is a wrong oil for modern cars and considering the kind of business that involve the car to be on the road 24/7.The oil will not give the required protection needed for your car and your moving parts will need to work harder to overcome the viscosity posed by it cos it is heavier than the factory recommended oil and continuous usage can cause your engine to be smoking soon .
The only reason you can be using this oil is if your engine is already on it way out and smoking already .The factory recommended oil for modern car is 5w30 oil synthetic .any reputable brand like Mobil ,Castro ,Lubex will be ok
Using synthetic oil can support servicing your car every 5,000 km or 4 months or even 6 months self instead of every monthly that you are currently observing , you get a better fuel mileage cos it it's viscosity is lower (less friction) and you get better engine treatment cos the oil is mainly chemical and contain extra additives instead of using mineral oil which is from crude oil and leaves residue inside your engine that can shorten its lifespan .

a brand new 2007 toyota camry bought brand new in 2007 for 6.5 million naira and was delivered in a container and has been in a garage for 10 years cannot sell for 6.5 million.
it is either you allow these people with their failed maths or you stick to the truth you already know.

Curiously, that packed car will sell at even a higher Naira price, after 10yrs. (Price was never N6.5Millon)... smiley wink
In 2007, a new Camry landed at N3.5 Million ($28K @N125/1$ rate); 10yrs later, the 2007 Toks with well above Zero mileage, is being sold at N3.5 Million.

Catch is your PPP(Purchasing Power Parity), the land sold in 2007 for 3.5Million ($28K); you wont be able to buy with today's 3.5Million($10K).
Vehicles do not appreciate overtime, they depreciate severely, thats why you should be VERY concerned about that "depreciation"

Please who got their 25% Uber fee back?

I just got my weekly statement for my only car left in uber and they still took their 25%.

So I officially gave up on Uber today! My last driver insisted that i give him 1 week to give Uber a chance based on their 25% Uber fee back promo for over 50 Trips completed.

Only for Uber to go ahead and collect the Uber fee even after he completed 58 trips.

Uber is just criminal, and i feel for the guy because he was working endlessly all week to meet this target.

Uber is known for controversies and the management refused to adopt strategy that is best for business.

I give kudos for those still working as a driver on that platform cos body go tell Una, you guys are still enjoying this period.

Riders are embracing other platforms now as Uber fails to deliver.
A rider sometimes stays over 30mins before getting a ride, very ridiculous unlike when the going was good for Uber .

Nairaland has the authentic information not Uber website

Really? Nairaland has more authentic information than the company website? Doesn't make much sense to me. But thanks though, someone has confirmed that they have changed the requirements.

I think you are right, riders prefer to pay higher fee to taxify, than facing the frustration of getting cheap Uber.

My friend requested a ride, they put her on waiting for 30mins, finally when the driver arrived he just parked outside, refusing to call the rider, just waiting out the 5mins grace time. Immediately after 5mins he cancelled the ride, and my friend was charged 1000 naira. she angrily delete uber app and make use of taxify.

I wont really blame the driver, it shows the driver covers almost 3km to arrive my friend destination, and the fare calculation to my friend destination, wont be more than 700 naira. So it will be a good deal for the driver to cancel the ride, and get his cancellation fee.

Forget all the smiles you get from Uber drivers, They know Uber is killing them, and making the riders happy, @Romeo3 once quote fuk the riders, that he wont accept all destinations, despite his claim of making cool money, he knows he need to till the soil so hard to achieve his aim.

@OlugbengaE you need to understand Romeo3 is a grass root hustler, his dream is to pay off the HP deal, so he doesn't care if he is over used.

Finally, I pray UberNigeria is kicked out of Nigeria, they are fraudulent with their promo. They promise 40k to refer a new car, but some claim they have not paid it, even after 20 trips, has been taking.

people do not like the truth. .............................
in that way, any money you make you get to keep. without delivering to anybody every driver on uber takes home nothing less than 60,000 naira a week. and this 60k weekly is after fuel and uber's 25%.
if you make 60,000 a week that is 240,000 a month and in 12 months it is over 2,800,000 in profit.
with that kind of money, you can change your car engine and car gearbox 2 times a year if they breakdown. that is why i am always quick to rubbish the depreciation claims etc.
if you are making that kind of money and you cannot maintain your car then shame on you.

SOME FACTS/TRUTH TO NOTE:

Toks (used) Engine for 2008 Honda=N350K
Gear=N120K.
Engine Oil, Oil Filter, etc=20K
Plugs, Air filter, etc=10K
Transmission Oil=20K
Labour=40K
Engine seat, Gear mounting, etc=10K
TOTAL: N570K..... Budget minimum N600K to change that engine!

You can not be doing this twice a year at N1.2 Million, on an income of N2.8 Million!
This cost EXCLUDES other frequent maintenance of other moving-parts (see post) at high mileage use of 1666 miles per week.
You have also been spending 30% of your earnings on fuel (8500/27,800 x 100); and repairs will be above 15% (based on IRS, for NEW Cars o!).

so i ended last week on 100k with 63hrs driven

down from 88hrs of last week. this was due to my offline clients.

driving 25 more hours on uber like i did last week would have made me an extra 41,650 naira. this is supported by the fact that i make 1,666 on average every hr i drive on uber.

no.

reasons are just the normal normal nigerian "bring him down" syndrome.

you should sit your ass down and stop quoting me.

the first thing i did after going to see and assess this current car i drive was to go meet a good mechanic friend of mine who used a 2007 honda accord 2.4 liter engine for 4 years.

i told him the mileage of the car and told him how many miles i drive a week and asked him if this car can do the job.

he said yes. he knows the ins and outs of this honda and everybdamn thing about it.

so just sit your ass down and watch a man who is on a mission

When you call thing exactly the way it is, people think you are mocking them.

Im only trying to point out the differences between you and olugbenga, this is not about mocking you.

You fall into the category of people Uber will use to achieve their aim, and I have friends that are in that category.

According to them, Uber job is like a zombie job, you receive a request sending you to certain location, you look @ the Waybill it tells you everything, but you dont know the rider destination,it only tells you as directed.

You get to the rider destination, sometimes 3km away, you wait for the rider sometimes more than 10mins, then rider gets in, then you start the trip, then destination appears, then you see destination such as Arepo, Ijagun, sango, Ikorodu. some of those areas are not motor-able, because you have to work as a zombie, then you head to areas where you risk your live because Uber want you to get there 25%. and you end the trip you wont get more than 1500-1800.

Another scenario you travel 3km way, then pick up 4 riders, after ending the trip, you see your earning on that trip as 350naira, you know is not worth it, but you hve to do it to survival.

I have a friend, his target is to earn his money through cancellation, he get to Rider destination, he wont bother call the rider, he only allow the app to notify the rider, because he knows he wont make up to 1k taking the rider to his destination, he choose the option of waiting the rider a little, so he can cancel, if the trip is worth more than the cancellation, he wont choose to cancel, he might even wait more, so he can make his money.

Uber is doing what they think is best for Uber, so I advise partners to do what is best for them.

For those of you who protested and shut down Uber app because the price is ridiculous and Uber choose to ignore you,

You dont need to shut down, you play Uber to their own game, frustrate them within their terms, Like Rider no show is one of the best option.

Rider no show will frustrate a lot of Riders, when they are frustrated to seek alternative.

Uber love to play dirty, Partners should also play dirty.

Finally, if your Rider ask you to take them to Ikorodu, you dont need to go, just cancel the ride.

Dear Threaders,

I'm just wondering why so much attack on Romeo3. This is a free country. We're free to use our time as it pleases us. Nobody has a right to make someone else live the same way as them.

If Uber doesn't suit you, kiss it goodbye & if it does go ahead and have yourself a ball. Don't try to destroy someone because he refuses to be like you.

And for those who are Dangote's mates here, you're in the wrong place. I guess many of us are here because we want to be like you. Don't discourage us by bringing down a diehard, upward looking young man.
This is not a millionaires club but a place for those who desire to be millionaires from scratch & ready to work their 'ass' out.

Some of us look up to Romeo3's posts. We're not interested in any pedantic or educated theorists. Look around, apart from inventors and a few educated barrier breakers, a lot of other millionaires are Street hustlers.

Nothing but the whole truth! I'm a grassroot hustler too, but I have big dreams. I joined Uber just at the point where they announced the 40% reduction in fares; but Romeo3 has inspired me to still go for it, try my best and expect that things will still work out for me in this Uber business. Romeo3 is not perfect, but he is as open as a book! There are several positives I've taken away from his experiences as narrated in this thread. If we cannot understand his point(s) of view, at least let's respect the fact that he is entitled to them.

Nobody is attacking romeo3, infact I want to have a driver like him, against all odds, he is pushing so hard to get there, I really do wish him all the best.

My advice for him, is to save more, incase Uber fall apart, or his car has constant issues.

Most dealers on HP, take advantage of when buyers don't meet up the weekly payment.

Life is full of lessons, we just have to keep learning.
