ASABA FLOOD: Gov Okowa Restates Commitment TO Addressing The Scourge Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has restated his administration's commitment to addressing the perennial flooding that has continued to ravage residents of Asaba, the state capital. Governor Okowa in a statement on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu said the State Government feels the pains and the anguish of residents who pass through horrendous times as a result of the perennial flooding in town. He assured residents that government is not resting on her oars until the issue is addressed to a logical conclusion. "We apologise to all Deltans particularly those whose cars and houses were damaged. We seek your understanding as efforts are on to bring a lasting solution to the menace". The Givernor noted that previous Government over the years, made concerted efforts to address drainage challenges in the state capital. "But our analysis of the errosion challenge revealed that we needed to undertake a major restructuring of the drainage system to accommodate the volume of water". "However, the delay in completing the drainage project was as a result of our resolve to to restructure the drains to accommodate the volume of water in addition to constructing a structure the would endure the test of time. Though we were challenged by the paucity of funds that greeted the state in more than 18 of the 24 months of our Administration, we remain committed to doing the right thing for our people".

Na now day break ![]() Asaba is the worst state capital in the whole Nigerian, no infrastructure anywhere;bad roads, no drainage, dilapidated ministries and department buildings. The only major road in the "town" which is Nnebisi Road is at the mercy of flood and potholes. Even the stadium started by the ibori administration has been taken over by bushes and lay in waste. |

HisSexcellency:You can lie. Is it not the same house of assembly that is along okpanam road? Why u dey bring abraka into Asaba matter... Or is there abraka inside Asaba? Let me tell you a fact.... As state is only as developed as it's people choose to develop themselves. I'm sure you're expecting Delta State government to start erecting skyscrapers along Nnebisi road. It is up to the citizens to build up, revonate overhaul their properties... If you go Maryam Babangida house side... You will see lots of old, archaic buildings there... You don't expect the government to demolish & rebuild those places, do you? Nwaoboshi spent N800m to buy guinea house in Lagos... What did he build in Delta State apart from his personal residence? The mentality of Delta people is one kind. There are many millionaires in Delta State but they'll rather pretend to be poor so they can be currying favors from other people. If the government want to build a project in a community, the next community, in some cases will try as much as they can to fustrate it. I can recall news here sometime a go where boys from a community around ubulu uku went to tear down the fence of another community secondary school. That is exactly what you are doing on this thread. You said Asaba stadium is in disuse & overgrown with weeds. ... Same place they held workers day rally... What do you intend to painting Delta State black ? |
