What saddens me most about most tvshows with a potential to be great is that they all start very well and along the line gradually loses the plot and becomes rubbish
Season 1 is in most cases usually the best, season 2 may follow up a bit but thereafter it all becomes a joke, another piece of crap

Homeland... Started very well.... Then they killed broody
House of cards seasons 1 and 2 was lit, started falling off season 3....season 4 was a disappointment.....
Season 5....supercrap
So, if you tell me HOC season 5 is solid.... You just a fanboy
They should just cancel the show..... It's over getting boring
I like frank underwood.... But the writers need to spice things up.... Give us something new....

The reason breaking bad is way and shoulder above the rest of the pack is that it gets better with each season.... And they quitted when the ovation was at it's highest

GOT, was also able to get better till season 4 before they eventually ended up killing everyone that is to kill and bringing back a dead man.... But what edge GOT have is diversity..... So many major characters.... Plots.... Stories....

Another is TWD, The Wire....

And that's what makes these shows in a different caliber compared to the rest

Another recent show is into the badlands.... Season 1 was everything....
Watching season 2....you kinda feel like it ends at 1
Just think of your favorite shows, always promising season 1....before it falls off the wagon and becomes rubbish

I also felt thesame way about another mini-series "The Night of..."

I think Ed already knew but in self denial. Remember when Madaline tried to 'fess up and he told her he didn't wanna know? Then, at the trivial night, he caught Madaline exchange furtive glances with Joseph - it was a split second thing but he caught on. Then, he tried to pick a fight with Nathan in order to deflect.

Yeah, he's clearly sexually attracted to his step-daughter, which is a hyper fvcked up situation, but Ed been Ed, he would have probably repressed the hell out of that sh*t.

But yeah, character development and further plot exploration would have answered many of those questions you asked, but I'm surprise you didn't ask the obvious:

Will Bonnie get away with Perry's murder (even if it's in self defence). Will the detective spying on the women at the beach with binoculars eventually uncover the conspiracy? And I would have liked to see Ed finally throw down with Nathan (they don't like each other at all, do they?)

Alas, I guess we will never know.

You better go back and continue. The language alone is cool and explicit, no holds barred.
I did the same thing when I watched it first, until someone suggested I relax and continue.
I did and it was one of the best TV series I've ever seen.
Do yourself a favour, watch it.
