The Police is your Friend.

No, they're not. They are selfish bigots.

And that's not a lie.

The average policeman is a sadistic, exploitative, psychopath who is ready to implicate anyone who isn't co-operative.

First, they try to find something to hold against you. And even when they don't find any materials to implicate you with, they go ahead to threaten you. Then, they tell you to settle them. If you don't settle them, they rain curses on you, beat you, and if you're unlucky, shoot you.

To them, every girl is a prostitute and every guy, a scam artist.

If you have a case to present; He who has the more the resources, wins the case.

Do not be fooled. The Nigerian Police is not your friend, especially if you don't have the resources to buy their friendship. They are not on your side if you are not ready to settle them.

OP, have you any idea how many Nigerian Police officers have been killed and injured in shootouts against armed robbers in the last 30 years?

In other words, have you any idea how many Nigerian policemen have given their lives to protect you and your family, and keep you safe while you sleep like a baby at night?

Do you know it runs into thousands?

Do you know it is those underpaid policemen you scorn, that are the ones blocking armed robbers from raiding your house tonight?

Can you do what they do? Patrol the streets at 3am, often with sub-standard weapons, looking for armed robbers to confront?

Look, Mr Man, we can criticise the police all we want, but we must never ever ignore or downplay the fundamental service they render to us, and the huge sacrifices they make. For that we are grateful.

370,000 Policemen including Traffic Police...

183,000,000.00 Population

There are 500 Nigerians to every policeman...then remember majority of these policemen are serving private individuals and businesses and guarding non-governmental infrastructure.

The police is underequipped, undermanned, under-led, unmotivated and power drunk.

The police is not your friend.

The Nigerian police is rubbish, so is everything else. Roads, power, housing, health sector, transport, legislature, judiciary, executive arm, presidency, etc. So don't hate the police, hate the system that made them like that. Don't blame the gencos and discos, blame the system. Nigeria is rubbish and so everything thereof is rubbish too. Country Wey no get president, that na country?

Because of the reasons u have given, dey have now been clothed with power to arrest at will, physically hurt innocent people, label u a criminal, get innocent people's pictures taken n put on display at the station, demand payment for bail n while paying, a person is faced by the notice "bail is free" then sign a declaration afterwards that nothing was collected from u for bail. I don't just know what to say to this ur post, I will just pray for u.

I will pray for you not to encounter armed robbers, so that no policeman would waste his precious life defending you.

By the way, can you tell us when last you were physically hurt and wrongly labelled a criminal by a police officer?

It happened to me once, when I didn't know my rights then, I have chosen a profession which helps me fight such inhumanity at any given, I witnessed the same rubbish on Saturday where people were bundled into a hilux van for a fight that started n finished b4 dey got there. One approached me n asked who I was because I didn't appear moved by what they were doing, I told him I was nobody till one of his colleague told him not to even dare because he recognized me from one of my many confrontations with them.
The lives of innocent people and myriads of extra judicial killings that have happened b4 are not precious to u or important. U have not said what u r gaining from all d lawlessness.

Irrespective of how you may paint the NPF, I'd always dislike them for thieves are better than them, especially the SARS. If they are under-equipped as per arms and ammunition, they shouldn't be under-equipped in their skulls. They are most times working against humanity

I am currently dealing with a situation right now.

A young man approached me to assist/advice him concerning how to go about his late father's firearm.

His late father had two guns (a double barrel and a pistol) before his demise in 2014

The guns were kept in the father's bedroom were his stepmother was still occupying after the demise of their father.
The step mother later moved out of the house but before she moved out, this young man had advised members of the family to hand over the firearms to the police to avoid a situation where those guns are stolen or gets into the wrong hands.
He was ignored until the stepmother moved out and his elder brother moved into one of the rooms where the pistol was kept.

The elder brother is now alleging that he didn't see any gun in the room after he moved in. In other words, the pistol is now missing.
The young man decided to invite the police to investigate the disappearance of the gun and retrieve the remaining one from their home.

Now Police gets involved and started demanding all sort of money from the young man before they can investigate.

At first they wanted mobilization fee of N50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Naira) to arrest all parties mentioned.
N10,000.00 to prepare/obtain Search Warrant from the Court, etc

This young man can't afford such and the Police became very rude, unfriendly and even drove him out of their office.

He told the Police IPO that he wasn't interested in arresting any member of his family but only wanted the Police to retrieve the guns. He wondered why he should be asked to part away with such amount (by the way they said was just for a start).....

My lawyer called the police "a necessary evil." Imagine how the society would be without them.
