Anytime I see SAAGOnyx helicopter in formation it reminds me of AIR ASSAULT which SAAF were good at years back. I wonder if you guys still retained that capability.

just above the torpedo firing port u can see a half conical structure embedded in the the ship superstructure.

it is a high power jammer (anywhere between 40,000-100000 watts, actual fig. is classified )

one of its job is to blanket the attacking ASHMs active radar seeker with white noise ( literally brute forcing ) to break its target lock.

another of its job is to feed numerous false electronic targets to the attacking ASHMs active radar seeker so that it ends up away from the actual target.

another job is to disrupt and induce false signals/info into the data link stream of medium and long range ASHMs so that its navigation updates gets screwed up and ends up far away from its intended target.

Posted a video of the SA Army's 6th air assault infantry battalion fast roping a few years back.....I have yet to find a video of any other force in the world that can fast rope quicker and at the same height as these boys.

These guys are also partly responsible for why the m23 don't exist anymore.

from an egyptian forumer its an optical, thermal imaging system called "el aktouf" locally made in egypt work with artillery systems

their is version of it with Ground surveillance radar ( from thales, and another version with chinese radar) used in border guard force
