Three major oil firms, including Exxon Mobil, Taleveras, and Ophir yesterday won Oil Blocks in Equatorial Guinea.
Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, Gabriel Obiag-Lima made the announcement at the African Oil and Gas Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, yesterday.
Eyes Of Lagos gathered that, Exxon Mobil, in a press statement yesterday, confirmed it has signed its Production Sharing Contract, with Equatorial Guinea for Oil acreage E.G.-11, thereby heading the list of acreage winners in Equatorial Guinea’s latest licensing bidding round.
ExxonMobil already operates Zafiro field, the largest oil producing field in Equatorial Guinea, which is the third largest producer of oil in Sub-Saharan Africa.
UK based Ophir Energy won the block EG 24, while Taleveras picked the highly potential EG-07 Oil block and Clonterf Energy landed Block EG-18.
The West African nation’s Ronda 2016 open and competitive bidding round was declared a success by industry analysts and watchers.

Equatorial Guinea. An enclave of 'anything goes' with Obiang directing proceedings in the background with his cronies. Dunno why it appears most of Africa seems cursed in the leadership department amongst others.

With all the troubles ExxonMobil have created with her staff in Nigeria and the negative publicity it has generated in the last few years, I hope EG is making the right choice.

Word up man. Naija can be a dulling place. Same thing is going on with gas. Offshore Ivory Coast ,Ghana and even Angola is picking up. We have 180 trillion scf and are doing nothing about it, whether for piped transport, lng (one plant doesn't count) or power generation.
Now Mozambique lng is coming online soon. Eni and anadarko (mzlng operators)have already secured Japanese and other East Asian customers(Bharat of India is involved too). They are close -just acrosss the Indian Ocean. Those are our major customers !! But trust naija. We will wait till the mzlng trains start production and steal our clientele before one yeye president in 2022/23 I'll start to form a 'commission on gas growth '. Commission this board of enquiry that .... that's all men know here. Young men are being wasted cos older men have damning insecurities that would not let them give opportunities to others who are not their blood brethren.

Big ups to sanomi!!! Mighty luck to him. There is oil potential in every African country. Almost every. Nigerian professionals should explore their chances. Not waste in this den of dishonesty.
